Oh no...I had a lovely ( bigger) leather satchel in High School and never scribbled on it or defaced it. I didn't even scribble on my diary or ruler!
Occasionally there was a sneaky fag hidden in the back section! Likely it died of old age though...it was more a statement piece than anything else...gave me "street cred"!
Us kids that spent a lot of time in the Library were considered a bit nerdy...

During the exams each student has a name card with the centre number on and the candidate number. We deploy these prior to each exam according to the seating plan. Students may be moved around from one exam to the next depending on which paper they are sitting or arranged for particular medical needs or if they have extra time allocated. After 8 weeks of exams I was pretty disappointed to only see one card from the entire year group that had been embellished or modified in any way. We normally get various graffiti offerings but this year only a single corner shaded. They weren't all nerds! :surprised: :extrawink:

Our school uniform stipulated knee-high brown socks, but most of us wore white ones.
In winter we wore a kilt, white shirt, tie, jumper, blazer and knee-high socks. For excursions we added a hat. Wish I had a pick of that.

Such short skirts! We were allowed 4" above the knee at our school, and there were regular checks with teachers wielding rulers waiting for us as we left assembly. For the first 3 years we had to wear gymslips, but could go into skirts after that. We did have summer dresses though, and at some point in the early sixties the fabric changed from a sober grey cotton with sprigs of white daisies to a choice of bright orange, turquoise or green in jazzy modern patterns. We were encouraged to buy the fabric and make our own, with some interesting results!

Our hem lines were meant to be to the knee, but 'hey' what could they do after we took up the hems and had thrown away the extra fabric, haha.
With our kilts we used to turn the waistband over and over until we were happy with the short length. :laugh5:
For sports we had an ugly dark brown tunic and grandma type bloomers.

The girls today at school still do the same, some it would seem have more rolled up than left down :surprised:

Nothing surer....

The lad's doing very well - now graduated, and the latest seems to that he is working as a wax finisher for Madame Tussauds. I thought at first he might 'just' be a brilliant copyist of existing drawings, but he has shown over the last few years, talent of a very high order, across the board.

For some reason he doesn't include Stanley 's commission in his website's catalogue of artworks. I can't think why.

Haha I should have clicked... Ooo la la.

My ugly baggy dark brown bloomers looked nothing like those and the elastic was very secure. I was thinking along the lines of curses, Pendle Witchcraft (did they wear knickers back then ?), and superstitions.

She has tights on as you cant see any suspenders. She also has the garments on the wrong way round as well. Order of assembly would hold good even with stockings and suspenders and proper pair of french (or other) knickers in my experience. :extrawink:
