Does that mean you stopped wearing your vest or padded shirt too early, or did you get hit on your head?

Talking of old sayings..... "A little of what you fancy does you good". I have the no doubt childish belief that this is true. Caffeine isn't 'good' for you but I do enjoy my morning pint of good coffee. I have a reason for my belief. When you first turn cattle out after a winter in the byre the first thing they do is have a good trot, then often a roll in the grass and after that you will see them going round the hedge bottoms (if you have them) They are looking for herbs and weeds that they fancy and I have little doubt that this is because they have an instinct that they contain something that they are short of. Pigs used to lick copper pipes in their sties and if you put a mineral block down in a pasture the beasts will congregate round it and have a lick.
So If I fancy something I have a little bit of it even if I have been assured it is bad for me!

I remember when I was about 40 years old I realised that it was taking me a bit longer to get up to speed when I got out of bed. I wondered at the time if this was what old age started with.... It was! Today's tip is when you get up in the morning don't force yourself up to speed, let it happen, it always seems to work out OK! Funnily enough it's levelled out now and isn't increasing in length. I shall worry when it does!

I hear and experience what your saying about getting older. It's all fine if you are staying home but if you have to be somewhere early then you have to get up earlier so that you can fit everything in before leaving home. And in my case , heading up the road to catch the bus early and thinking 'Am I dressed, have I got everything, too late now'. Buses don't wait for you, haha.

That's why I hate 'appointments' Cathy. They take a lot more planning than they used to!

I rarely see a Doctor (touch wood) and I have this theory that once you reach a certain age and the medical profession have you in their grasp, they just keep on making appointments for you because they think you haven't anything better to do, or they just need a new guinea pig for their files /research/ grants/subsidies etc.

I have to admit that there is some truth in that Cathy. I rejected another investigation not long ago because it involved travel to Nelson. I think they sometimes forget that they are looking at an expert in survival......

I tend to agree with you both, but it pays to take advantage of free blood pressure/Cholestrol and Diabetes screening offered at Chemists. They are the "silent killers" and you may not be aware you have a problem. In such cases, ignorance is not bliss. It's best to know what your blood pressure, Cholestrol and blood sugar readings are from time to time. Anyone can drop dead of a heart attack or stroke...
And don't neglect the free bowel screening and free mammograms.

Indexing research can be boring at times but occasionally you hit pay dirt and it all becomes worth while! So today's tip is that when it gets hard, keep going, you may be on the verge of some good stuff!

If you are turning brass, make sure you have a pair of needle point tweezers to hand for pulling the sharp little splinters out of your hands. If you leave them they can fester..... I have a pair of Roebuck tweezers specially made for the job. Best money I ever spent!

The needle point tweezers are always handy to have about you Maz.... Nothing quite as annoying as a splinter of any kind. I've never failed to get even the smallest one out with them.

So many of the things I enjoy are either illegal, immoral or fattening. Discuss.....

I must be an abandoned soul......
I like answering peoples questions, nice to know they regard me as an authority but beware, it can sometimes demand 2,000 word replies! Is today's tip "Don't be a know-all!" ? (Bob has asked me a question on the grounds I am his go-to source for engineering and practical facts.)

Don't get set in your ways, all routines can be improved. It struck me this morning that cleaning round the tap on my sink would be a lot easier if the plug and chain weren't wrapped round the base. I seldom use the plug and so this morning I took it off, removed the chain and put the plug in the sink tidy. Such a small and obvious change but an improvement!

That's better! (Yes, I am obsessive about my sink!)
