Never, ever, let your guard drop if you are in charge of a dog. That's it!
One more thing, I know it's not sensible but if the red mist descends and you go on the attack against the attacker, don't worry, just go for it! If I hadn't intervened Jack would be dead. It's a hard cruel world.

My head is full of Jack! Today's tip is that one of the things that is helping him improve is getting into our normal routine. Good routines are essential to dog maintenance! All I have to do is rattle my keys and go to the front door and he's with me. These little trots are good for him.

Today's tip, don't panic if your dog is breathing through a hole in his throat if everything else is going well.
I say that but you are allowed to worry!

Oh...I'd be worried...I am like that! I would be making the call to the vet clinic to see if they were worried.
If they are not worried...I would calm down...eventually :biggrin2:

Jack's a tough little fella, he'll be OK. But it's best to keep the vet informed of his condition. Onwards and upwards.

The thing to watch for is that collection of air in his neck I suppose. If the skin heals over before the trachea hole heals over, you may notice more swelling from more air collecting under the skin. I don't know. I'm not a vet.
If his breathing becomes laboured, he may need to be reviewed is all I am saying. But I know you are keeping a close eye with your nursing duties...

Today's tip is don't use the cheap 5 blade razors from Aldi. I took a slice out of my head that could be used for skin grafting, back to the more expensive Gillette 3 bladed methinks once the bleeding has stopped.

I have always held that the body if supported well and left alone can cure almost anything if it's in good nick. Jack appears to be proof that this is true. I think he's making progress. I also think, but have no proof, that his good diet and regular exercise have kept him fit (He's 11 years old this month) and this is in his favour as well. Never feed a dog food you wouldn't eat yourself! It pays in the end and incidentally costs no more than tinned dog food!

I'm feeling pleased with myself after having dismantled the downpipe and diverter that provides rain water for our two plastic water butts. A fiddly job getting the sections of pipe apart, and the diverter bit was jammed hard into the pipe and needed WD40 and a lot of attention with the end of a screwdriver to loosen it. But it's all clear now, the gutter above has been cleaned out and the downpipe has had a good cleaning on the outside too. Next job will be cleaning out the 30-foot long gutter on the end of the house - but luckily it's on a single storey extension.

Be careful Tiz! Today's tip is when you reach 70 years old, give your extension ladder away! I gave mine to Doc.....
Another thing that struck me a few days ago was that there was no need to keep a large tin of Rozalex barrier cream and another of Swarfega on the draining board if you are using disposable vinyl gloves! They are under the sink now, less clutter.

One thing that has become very obvious during the last few days is the value of having organised routines. I am certain that this has helped both Jack and myself. People have commented on the fact that they can set their watch by our walks! I would recommend the practice to everyone!

People see us walking everyday and comment that my husband always has a piece of fruit in his hand as we walk. He always grabs an Apple or Pear as we leave the house.

Morning Maz. A good habit. How is he today? (Just seen medical matters.....)
Bodge, you're old enough to look after yourself!
Today's tip, If you have a cat crapping outside your back gate enlist the neighbours! I mentioned all the things I had put on the spot outside the door to one of my neighbours and she recommended washing powder. I see this morning a white powder has been scattered on it......

I'm doing a reverse ferret this morning and asking if anyone has a tip for rendering a particular patch of ground in the middle of the back street unattractive to a crapping cat! To date the following have failed: Soap powder, Dettol, bleach and Jeye's Fluid. Any suggestions? I am getting tired of picking up cold cat shit!!!!!
