Don't quite know what to say about the things that you notice Big Kev.
Have you time on your hands?

"Don't quite know what to say about the things that you notice Big Kev."
I'll bet I have you guessing at times Cathy.... Kev is like me, he is aware and enquiring and that sometimes leads you in unexpected directions. That's not a bad tip for the day. Never stop enquiring and asking questions.

Use your vote, a lot of good people made great sacrifices over the years to win it for you!

If an item in your wardrobe consistently leaks dye in the wash, bin it!
Yes, the blue socks struck again!

There are very few things in this world that you can be sure are utterly reliable. One of them is the tip on the cover of the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy. "Don't panic!" Panic never helps!

If you hurt yourself by falling down a hole or doing something silly give your body time to recover. No shame in doing nothing for a while.... (As long as you don't get into a bad habit!)

If you lose something and can't find it go away and have a cup of tea. When you come back and look again it will be there and you'll wonder how you missed it before. (The fairies will have put it back.)

So true Tize, it's the same when you get stuck with the answer to a crossword clue, do something completely different for a short while, come back and the answer comes to you straight away. :good:

I rely on that almost every day. I put it down to the fact that the part of my brain that is on permanent nights works on the problem and gives me the answer eventually. It sometimes takes all night, a cup of tea doesn't hack it!
This is what I refer to in Shed Matters as 'The Design Committee'.

Don't worry too much about dreams. The boffins seem to be agreed that it's the brain tidying up the memory banks during periods of sleep. That could explain why they contain so many different elements.

Like Marilyn 's dream of running up a flight of stairs in red high heels and a mini skirt, and my dream of having long thick shiny black hair?
Is that what you mean Stanley? Haha :laugh5:

I really enjoyed that dream Cazza! Yes...I was running up an enormous elegant curving staircase, in red high heels and a flouncy mini skirt. No pain, no effort, an easy run. I was slim and full of beans... ( then I woke up in the real world with the now regular stiffness and discomfort...cruel!)
I have lots of dreams about my son when he was little. I love them. Sometimes I pick him up in my dreams and feel the weight and warmth of him. I enjoy those dreams...his cheeky smile, his cuddles, and lots of laughter.
I dream a lot. Most nights.

How true is that?? And when you can't remember the name of someone or thing, think about something else and it will pop into your head.

If I forget a name...I just go through the Alphabet quietly in my mind. Amazing how much it helps, especially with the names of old movie stars.

As Marvin the Paranoid Android said we all have brains the size of a planet!
Be glad you don't have perfect recall. One of my boyhood friends had it and at first it was a blessing, his doctoral thesis was so advanced that acceptance was delayed for five years until someone was found who could understand it. (It was about the boundary between inert proteins and life) As he got older it turned out to be a curse and the last I heard he had had to stop working as a research scientist and was a very unhappy man. It seemed like a good thing at the time but eventually became a burden he couldn't support.

I worked with someone in the 1990s who had a strategy for when he was bored while waiting or travelling. He worked his way alphabetically through the names of US states. I've done it sometimes and it was surprising how often I missed something obvious and how at first I would miss the states that don't feature much in news or history.

We both love old black and white movies. Somehow, we generally get all the actors worked out even if we have to work out a long list of who married who etc. iPad is only used when we get too frustrated.

If I'm awake in the night and getting into that state where worries just go round and round relentlessly I start on alphabetical lists. Female or male names, towns, rivers, flowers, groups. Any suggestions for a new list very welcome!

I enjoy trying to work out the voices of actors in children's animated movies and cartoons etc. There are many big-name actors who do this.
Also just recently I have watched Vintage Roads Great and Small, then when watching The Yorkshire Vet I realised that Christopher Timothy who played James Herriot in All Creature 's Great and Small was narrating. Love that.

ICU Phonetic alphabet. Then how about learning the Morse alphabet and numbers, they are learnt rhythmically so may be a good sleep aid. dah, dah, dit, dah, "here comes the bride", Q.
