WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
My wife waiting for the bus to the railway station, 20 minutes later than planned. She doesn't do on-time/rush/panic. I was admonishing her for being late and she came out with "this is the Kunming to Shanghai train and it is always late" - I hope she is right. She has an almost 5 hours journey to her mother's home so that she can spend time with her sister before she goes back to New Mexico.

I do hope your unflappable wife gets there safely...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Yes, she made the train. It was on-time and as she entered the station booking office she heard "last call for T382" so she pushed her way to the front of the queue, apologised to everyone, collected her prepaid ticket and ran through the station. It isn't easy because security on Chinese railways is strict and all passengers and bags are scanned as you enter. She said her heart was pounding!
I visited her home town in July, first time in years. If I don't go with her she can sleep at her mum's but if I accompany her we stay in a hotel. Her mum is a nice lady but we can't chat to each other because of my poor Chinese language skills.

The report on Birmingham Prison. This is only the tip of the iceberg. Our leaders, in their blind adherence to austerity have managed to produce a time bomb at the heart of society.
Jack's good progress. I go to see the vet today and I think Gillian is going to be very pleased with him. We may have survived!

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
THIS BBC report on the dropping of charges against Norman Bettinson. This disturbs me, not because I have any opinions about his culpability but because dropping the charges means that a whole area of evidence connected with Hillsborough won't be forensically examined in a public court. It's a bit too tidy and my crap detector is whining. Perhaps I am just a cynical old bugger.....

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I used to check out that site at one time, now they won't let me in.
I guess it's because I left Facebook. Now here's a dilemma - should I rejoin as I'd like to watch the video? Can I join under a pseudonym and remain anonymous to Cambridgeanalytica etc?

It's on Vimeo if that's any use, you could try searching for Daniel Meadows contributions. Could help to keep you away from the dark side.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Ah, that was Janet's favourite pic, she had it as wallpaper on all the computers she worked on. We were out on a picnic in the Dales.
Bear with me..... When I was in my world travel mode I was sometimes away for very long periods. I used to leave the CH active and turn the main thermostat down leaving the system under the control of a stat in the coldest part of the house, the shed as protection against frost. It is still there and set at 55F. When I go out and leave the back door open as I did this morning, if the outside temperature is below 55F it triggers the heating. It did so this morning just now. The bad news is that the heating season is just round the corner!
Jack's continuing good recovery.......

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
The fact that it is cool enough to trigger the CH boiler at low level. The control stat is set at just under 18C. I think the heating season has started early!

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
A small child in the supermarket today who had been given a pack of Blueberries to carry by her mother. The child had managed to wrangle the pack open as she walked behind her Mum, leaving a trail of Blueberries down several aisles to the checkout. I wondered how many people would slip on them and break their necks...

Probably none if the staff are up on store H&S. I thought you were going to say the kid was eating them and was attempting to turn into a Smurf.
