Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Should have said you may have a cardiogram (ultrasound) as well if you are having a general anaesthetic. I didn't need one as I had the cardiac consultant all over me when I was in the AAU. Waiting for a report.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Yes, thanks, I tire easily at the moment, muscle memory wiped in right leg, bit more complicated than that but I will relate that in the med thread. I intend to record my three week adventure up to discharge as a full report and separate topic, will take a bit to write up, I kept daily notes. Ongoing physio I will do in the med thread as it's an outpatients job now.

Good to see you posting Ian. Don't post any pics, it will upset P!
How well the day went, the med thread is going to be interesting!
Even had an hour on my valve rod.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
There's a big music concert / national fundraiser on tonight called Hay Mate. It's for our NSW and Queensland Farmers. Some of these areas have been in drought for 16years and some of the kids in these areas have never seen rain! Can you believe it... I don't know how these farmers, their families, stock and crops survive.
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here.
Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Tonight's help is just one of the many many things that has been done to help the farmers over many months. One thing that has surfaced is that a lot of the farmers need (and are receiving) help with their mental state.
All very sad.

Cathy, if it's the same there as in the UK they also have the highest rate of accidents and fatalities at work. Farmers are getting a rough deal at the moment and god knows we need them!
I noted again that the site automatically changed my posting time to correct the clock change, a couple of years ago we had to do it manually in the Control Panel. We went back an hour last night and are now on GMT or UT, whatever they call it.
Later.... The helicopter crash at Leicester FC that has killed the billionaire owner of the football club.
The shootings in the synagogue in the US. Any evidence of anti-Semitism reverberates through world Jewry and understandably so. This is a terribly wicked event by a known Jew-hater.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I was rather attracted by a brand new sewing machine at 50% off. Knees started to tremble and felt that thud thud in the chest and a strange feeling in the pit of my stomach. I was in love. I had to have it. Haven't had a new sewing machine for 28 years, so I knew this wasn't a flight of fancy. New machine unpacked but not tried yet. Hoping to play the DVD tomorrow.
How could I walk past a half price sewing machine!!'?

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Trump's response to this is disgusting. Virtually implying that it their fault for not having an armed guard at the door. Pandering to the gun lobby promoting the sale of guns instead of getting shut of them. Has this man no shame?
Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Unfortunately we get a lot of shocking news these days. This report is an example, as shown by the headline:
`Hit-and-run crashes rise by 45% in four years' LINK
But the real shock for me came when I read this bit of the article...`Recorded hit-and-run incidents increased from 19,239 in 2013 to 28,010 in 2017, according to Freedom of Information responses from 27 of the 44 police forces in England and Wales'. Many of the drivers are without a licence and/or insurance as shown by this sentence: `The Motor Insurers' Bureau, the body that compensates victims of uninsured drivers, also said the number of victims of hit-and-runs has been rising since 2013'. It now handles more than 16,000 cases a year.' That figure of 28,010 incidents in 2017 equates to around 77 a day. Now, many of these incidents may not result in death or injury but every one is potentially a cause of that.

"How could I walk past a half price sewing machine!!'?" It all depends on your interests Maz, I would find it quite easy!
I agree with all of you about Trump, the man is totally insensitive.
That surprised me as well Tiz, the harder the police crack down on uninsured drivers the better! But look what we have done to them in the name of 'efficiency' and Austerity.... Parallel with rise in violent crime and fall in arrests. This from the 'party of law and order'. Did you see what the retiring chair of the justice commissioners said yesterday?

Hammond and May grasping one guess from the number crunchers and running with it into a rosy future with no austerity and a good Brexit. Time will tell!

`Surgery students 'losing dexterity to stitch patients'' LINK
`A professor of surgery says students have spent so much time in front of screens and so little time using their hands that they have lost the dexterity for stitching or sewing up patients. Roger Kneebone, professor of surgical education at Imperial College, London, says young people have so little experience of craft skills that they struggle with anything practical. "It is important and an increasingly urgent issue," says Prof Kneebone, who warns medical students might have high academic grades but cannot cut or sew. "It is a concern of mine and my scientific colleagues that whereas in the past you could make the assumption that students would leave school able to do certain practical things - cutting things out, making things - that is no longer the case," says Prof Kneebone.

Prof. Kneebone definitely needs to be working in orthopaedics

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Still wont let me in the ACP although it now offers me the re-authentication window, just doesn't action the request. Must be something on the server as the symptoms are varying and with no access to the ACP I cant be altering anything.
Noticed yesterday that the hosting company 1&1 have merged with another company and have a new name. They have also migrated customers to new servers, maybe initial teething problems.

Could be, I have been prompted to re-enter my password a few times over the last couple of days.
I can get into the MCP OK.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Maz has been really struggling over the last few days but seems to be able to get on now. Seems to be random logon and authentication problems.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I can get into the MCP too and can access General Moderator Chat etc. My personal domain is hosted through 1&1 and I received an email yesterday about Ionos/1&1 trying to interest me in their services. When I clicked the link to unsubscribe it gave me a Not Found page. If they can't even get that right then I'm not surprised if they are having other problems.

I'm glad to see there is some attempt to make things that can be repaired instead of dumped. This is about more than just broken kettles...
