Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I see it is a man and a woman who have been arrested. I hope the police have it right and that lessons have been learned from this incident.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Interesting to note that the news said that measures would be put in place to ensure that this could not happen again. This begs the question, if "measures" are available instantly, after the event so to speak, why did it happen in the first place? Meethinks some wishful thinking there being used by the police spokesperson.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
It was mentioned on the news yesterday that 'measures' were available but awaiting the appropriate legislation, I think that's what they were getting at.

Looks like they have both been released without charge. Back to the drawing board.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Yes, the police say they are no longer under suspicion and Det Ch Supt Jason Tingley also said there is "always a possibility that there may not have been any genuine drone activity in the first place". LINK
And yet look at how the `Mail on Sunday' trashed the reputation of that couple with their front page this morning. I think they should be made to print an apology in the same size font alongside the same photo on the front page of tomorrow's paper...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I agree Tiz..... Talk about an unwelcome 15 minutes of fame! Of course they hedged their bets and added a question mark. But even so..... I hope 'forensic examination' of the recovered drone gives some leads.....
From what we can gather, DafT were warned about he possibility of an attack like this but have been dragging their feet. Guess who the culprit is.... You got it in one, that walking disaster zone Grayling. Did you hear him bumbling on R4 yesterday? How does a man with a track record like his survive??
Later.... See THIS BBC report of a stoppage at Birmingham last night.

These old ads are fun. I could manage without the `telephone cosy' but would enjoy the Gilbert's Glass Blowing Kit!

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
That area of Barlick is hidden from my view by the shoulder of the moor, so I couldn't work out if it was coming from Earby or further away. Thank you Kev, it's good to have an answer. Did you pop up Weets to snap the photo?

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
I saw the smoke as we came back from Airedale.
For anyone interested here's my result.....
CHRISTMAS EVE MEDICAL BULLETIN
24/12/18
Mo did a fine job of getting me to Airedale and supporting me in the meeting with my surgeon Matt Young this morning.
The details of my case and the results of the deep biopsy have been assessed at Airedale and checked by the regional Oncology Panel at Bradford. The opinion is that as a result of this the cancer can be downgraded to a Type 2 carcinoma from the original type 3. This means it can be regarded as less aggressive and less likely to strike deeper into the wall of my bladder or encourage secondaries.
I was offered two alternatives. I can either do nothing and return every three months for a cystoscopy to check I am OK or I can opt for 6 weekly irrigations with Bcg vaccine starting in January and a check after 3 months from the last treatment followed by regular monitoring.
I have opted for the latter as it gives me the insurance that this would be the treatment for Type 3 if the opinion is wrong. I have no reason to expect that, apart from some discomfort in passing water and frequency, this will be any detriment to my normal way of life. When I told Matt this he was obviously in favour of this but of course can't tell me directly. I did ask some searching questions.
So from mid January I shall have a trip a week to Airedale and after that a 3 month rest until a check up. From my experience so far as to speed of recovery from the intrusion into my bladder I don't see any problem but if this proves wrong we can stop the treatment at any time and it will be my decision.
This is better than what I regarded as the best result I was expecting as they have downgraded the severity. In all, a splendid Xmas present. Thanks for caring about what happened to me.
Love, Stanley.

It was someone else's pic (Bryan Fieldhouse) from Facebook. The first one, with the fire engine, was taken by my brother in law.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Thanks to all of you, Julie is right, a good Xmas present! I crashed last night at 9PM, reaction I suppose, had a lovely deep sleep. Some nice mail coming in this morning, one in particular made me laugh, it's from an old friend who has had his share of medical problems but has remained calm and cheerful for many years. He's part of a group that bought and ran a Routemaster bus for years and they still meet once a month for breakfast. He says that all but three have had cancer related episodes and the the three "are nervous".
A misty morning and a hard white frost, looks almost like Xmas out there.
The delivery of my Xmas wrap up from my butcher's yesterday. As usual it is a reasonably priced delight!

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
We have had to shut the front door, pull the blinds down and pour a glass of wine ( medicinal), to drown out junior's drumming.
Hope some kind relative has paid for lessons as a Christmas present. Either that, or we hope he has developed painful blisters which will halt his playing tomorrow. Today has been painful.
