Everyone knows it was Jenny Purcell Kev!
Thing that grabbed me yesterday was the showers of snow, some very heavy, in the late afternoon. Melted very quickly...

Been out for a short walk and inspection of Town Square.

Image

Lots more people about now the shops are nearly all open. Getting back to normal. I hope it lasts.

And all right, I know I'm a picky bugger but is this really how the contractors are going to leave this bit?

One would presume not as the square isn't finished yet.

David says it is one of many matters that will be addressed as soon as they can get men back on the job.
What puzzles me is why it was done that way in the first place, surely the line of the setts should have dictated the line of the new Kerb....

They could have filled in the curved area with pebbles - it was done frequently in seaside or riverside areas.

If it had been on my watch they would have followed the line of the setts with the Kerb. I reckon the draughtsman cocked up when doing the drawings and the flaggers followed instructions.
The fact we do not have a frost this morning despite having a clear sky.
Later at 06:30. As I am not having time in the shed I went for a walk round the block and noticed something in the Co-op car park that I missed when they recently re-marked the park. The disabled car parking spaces are now marked out with yellow but some have been changed to wider spaces for cars that contain children and they are marked in white.

A good initiative I reckon Stanley. However I doubt that it will stop the morons among the driving community parking wherever they want.

One of the things that struck me when I first went to the States was how wide the spaces were in supermarket car parks. Of course they have the room to do it!
Ian, the only thing that has any effect on morons is a heavy weight falling from a great height. :biggrin2:

It always amazes me that patrons to the Sports Centre always park as near to the door as they can get.

It made the BBC traffic news, there was one there a few weeks ago where a cyclist was sadly killed. It was closed for hours.

I hate the way that anyone over 65 is described as a pensioner or elderly! Yes I draw my pension but I'm certainly not elderly...or am I? :scratchhead:

How does that work when they make men and women wait until they are 66 now before they even get a pension?

67 for a state pension. We are both drawing on private pensions at 60 (although I'm still working) so I suppose we're pensioners :biggrin2:

It gets too confusing, reporters will have to work things out carefully before describing anyone as a pensioner. Perhaps it would be ok to be described as an elder rather than elderly.

The general term now is 'Senior'. But when you reach 75+ you become a 'Senior Senior. If you reach 80+ you stay the same rank but get an extra 25p a week pocket money. :biggrin2:

At *% I simply refer to myself as high mileage.
Will that do Wendy?
What grabbed me was a Town Square full of tables and chairs. I think it is the Town Council's initiative. Solves the seating problem for the cafe's! What a good idea....

I think they put the furniture in a marquee for the night.....
But I have another pressing matter. I saw a video of a postman who gets attacked by a cock pheasant.

See THIS

It wasn't the pheasant it was the fact the postman was wearing shorts and tights. I am of an age where that seems a bit bizarre. However, this morning as I was walking in Town Square I met a man in black top and shorts and black tights as well. He seemed to be carrying a radio and had DP on his top.
Have I been missing something? Are tights and shorts now recognised uniform wear for men in some organisations?

The University of Hull will no longer be marking down exam papers for bad spelling and grammar. We'll have a country full of geniuses who won't be able to communicate their knowledge other than verbally.
