Steak, oxtail and veggies X two for dinner and tea. Cheese and oatcakes with an apple for fillers.

Same as yesterday to finish the stew off. Only difference was no cheese and biscuits after tea, instead I had a small bowl of strawberries and live set yoghurt followed by an apple.

Try and make sure your yoghurt is full fat Stanley, the Greek or Greek Style ones are lowest in carbs, or use double cream.

It's Pakeera from Rochdale Wendy and is full fat milk. Thanks for the advice.
Yesterday I cooked a Haggis and boiled carrots and parsnips then mashed them with whey butter. I had Haggis and mash for dinner and tea and added two fried eggs at teatime, they were small helpings.... No cheese for afters, just an apple.

Steak pudding and the remainder of the mashed carrots and parsnips for dinner, not a big helping. For tea I picked on half a barbecued chicken and had strawberries and plums for pudding with double cream. I was still peckish so I had 6 small oatcakes with cheddar cheese and an apple.

I started the day by putting a shoulder of mutton in cider in the slow cooker and cooked it slowly all day, deboning it in the evening, cutting the meat up and adding broccoli and Chinese leaf. (I've discovered that Chinese leaf keeps its crunch longer than cabbage). I also cooked a big pan of carrots, swede and parsnips.
I had Scotch egg and veggies for dinner and tea with strawberries and plums with double cream for pudding. No afters.

Mother's Day here....so we had Pizzas...delivered.
We have lived here 4 years, and it is our first home delivery ( of anything!), so that was a history making pleasure!

Same as yesterday, two medium sized bowls of the mutton stew and no afters apart from an apple. I am taking notice of my body and have cracked down on the carbs and treats, my weight is slowly going down and I'm feeling the benefit.....
I extended the mutton yesterday with the last of the Chinese leaf and frozen peas. I love extending grub with cheap, good ingredients like this.

Very small helpings of Mutton at dinner and tea because I planned a treat, Ice cream and peanuts for nibbles at teatime. I felt very naughty but the Sicilian Lemon Curd and Raspberry Co-op ice cream is wonderful! I weighed myself and the stricter regime is working!

Cooking fish in the electric frypan, which will hiss and spit all over me. ( the electric frypan is going in the bin as soon as my kitchen is up and running again, as it makes such a mess with its spatter).
Carpenter and gas plumber coming tomorrow to instal the new stove. Hallelujah! About time too...
Emptied my cupboards today, so stuff stacked everywhere. Kitchen looks like Steptoe's Yard.
( I get so depressed every time I walk in the kitchen that I walk right out again!)

Never mind Maz it will be worth it when the job is finished. I know what you mean about frying pans spitting. My old hob had only one heat, maximum and even though I monitored it and switched the ring off to attempt to keep the temperature constant I got fat flying all over the place. Now I have good thermostatic control with the new hob things are a lot easier.

I have been forced to wear a "neck to knee" apron to cook with that dysfunctional piece of equipment!
We will throw it in the bin with much ceremony! Be gone!

Another image to carry with me all day....... Well done Maz!
I finished off the stew, two small portions for dinner and tea. I had cheese and oatcakes and some nuts and an apple for afters. Amazing how dropping a few pounds aids getting up out of the embrace of the sofa in the front room....

Anything that could go wrong, has gone wrong with this stove installation. Started at 9am with the cabinet maker and almost 5 pm now. About another hour they reckon....

I still believe any cook worth their salt should be able to cook a meal on anything, from a Bunsen Burner to a top of the range stove. I admit that the past few weeks have been labour intensive, but we have survived. The electric frypan was a chore. The microwave was a challenge at times too. I am pleased to think we enjoyed most of our meals...the thing I craved most after 7 weeks was a decent serve of creamy mashed potatoes ( though we never have mashed potatoes very often anyway!)

I had a cook in yesterday. I fancied liver and onions so fried onions, chives and a pepper and then seared the liver before dropping the lot into the slow cooker to argue with itself. I have to admit to having a slight carb regression in that I have some tinned new potatoes that need eating so I popped some in accompanied by cauliflower florets. I had a Scotch Egg for dinner and at teatime I boiled some Basmati Rice and had a big bowl of the result on a bed of rice. It was lovely! Only afters were two small apples. Sorry about the relapse but I hate to see unused food, I shall not replace the spuds or the rice!

Reading about a pathologists study on men suddenly dying during the battle of Stalingrad for no identifiable cause the report concluded that under starvation conditions combined with the stress of the battles the soldiers bodies just gave up. The end assessment was that under extreme stress the body would only absorb half the calories that had actually been eaten. The combination of stress and starvation proving fatal. With all the stress of Brexit, Mrs T, and not forgetting the wedding Stanley is probably right to increase his intake.

- and there you should have stopped cooking. Nothing you did afterwards would have improved it. That dish is one of my repertoire - I thought I'd invented it - but I finish it with soya sauce, and a drop of Linghams chilli sauce, then some water, and a sprinkle of cornflour to thicken the gravy.

Ask Big Kev, ask Colin or even me, you don't need refined carbohydrates for energy, we get ours from FAT!! Energy from carbs peaks quickly, then leaves you tired and craving more.....
