I am nowhere near as adventurous as you lot! The beef and veggies matured nicely. Didn't need to freeze any..... I had a naked steak pudding for dinner and at teatime had the beef and veggies with added sprouts.....

I steamed a cauliflower and augmented the beef and veggie stew. I had it for dinner and tea and it is just right for this weather!

Beef and veggie stew X two for dinner and tea. I have extended the remainder with a tin of baked beans. Much to be said for stews as a winter diet!

Whilst shopping in Sainsbury's last night - whilst apparently single handedly trying to destroy British dairy farmers  . I bought a ready meal in the 'lucky dip' reduced section. A bargain at £2 - reduced from £3.

It was said to be beef stew with mash and carrot - another spooky coincidence. Well the least said the better. I ate it but it wasn't much cop. I noted that the portion size seemed small - but I was full when I finished, so I kept the tray with a view to trying to replicate it and seeing what the cost was.

As usual - all got out of hand and this was the finished dish - which was very good indeed, and would never have fitted in the tray. Cost less than £2 though.

Beef and veggie for dinner. I grilled 6 sausages and had two with half of the remaining stew for tea.
David, at least you had the 'benefit' of the convenience. Bugger the taste or the cost, this 'improves your eating experience'. Or to go even further into advertising speak, 'it enhanced your journey towards culinary fulfilment'!

Our Jack is coming for tea tonight so it will be pork chops with spuds of some kind and veg. Steeton communal pig keeps giving, we still have a couple of joints and four more chops in the freezer. Our friendly neighbourhood butcher who deals with the beasts each year is rather generous in his chop portions, they are an oven job rather than cook in the pan.

A further step in that direction - we're getting a brand new Marks and Spencer next month. They say today that it will be -

Offering the opportunity to try something new with family and friends, customers visiting the store will be able to enjoy the recently unveiled Plant Kitchen which includes cauliflower popcorn with Buffalo dip, mushroom stroganoff and Thai green curry.

That's exactly what I did for the meal pictured above.

The chops we used to get off a 400lb bacon pig were more like beef ribs!
Sausage and egg for dinner, My Friend Vicky called in to check up on me and brought a boiling of sprouts from their garden on the farm. I boiled them, added them to the last of the beef stew and fortified the whole with a Cumberland sausage.... Bit too much really but lovely. During the current fight against cancer I have been allowing my weight to rise a bit, no point dieting and being under attack at the same time. Everyone is telling me how well I look!

Sausage and egg again for dinner and yes, inside two small bread baps! Tea was a steak pudding on a bed of freshly cooked sprouts, carrots and peas. Nuts, chocolate and an apple for afters. (I think my fibre is OK!)

Look what's NEW for us...
This is a Big Deal, most of us Aussies love topping our crackers with cheese and vegemite and now we have it all in a cracker. And yes, they are yummy.
Just a pity that poor old Tassie isn't included

The Tasmania reference fooled me until I looked at the enlarged pic! Don't eat too many Cathy!
I cooked a big rump steak very slowly after marinading it for 24 hours. Then into the slow cooker with a tin of chopped tomatoes and frozen mixed veggies. The steak cost £5 but will be the basis of at least five good meals, who said good grub is expensive!
I steamed a cauliflower to add to the carrots and sprouts. I had steak pudding, mushy peas and veggies for dinner. For tea I had the same and then added all the veggies to the steak and veggie stew. No cooking for a couple of days...... The stew will be nicely on song today at dinnertime!

I extended the last of the stew with a tin of baked beans and sausages and it served for dinner and tea. During the day I slow-cooked a shoulder of Lamb in cider and the usual suspects. By teatime I had it deboned and back in the cooker with frozen peas and mixed vegetables. This is going to become the staple for a day or two when It has had some more veggies added and time to develop.

I cooked and mashed veggies to go with the lamb stew. It's quite splendid, I had it for dinner and tea and no cooking for a few days! I got some frozen sprouts, I think they are cheaper and better quality than a lot of the fresh ones.

The last of the lamb stew for dinner. Tea was half the mashed veggies plus mushy peas and a steak pudding. I put a bunch of beef steak in the slow cooker with just water and salt and pepper. I shall cook it thoroughly and freeze half of it for a future base.

I split the remaining veggies in half and added a tin of mushy peas. I had that plus a steak pudding for dinner and the same with a Scotch Egg for tea. During the day I attended to my beef stew. Cut the meat into chunks and defatted it. Half of it is in the freezer as a base for the next one, the rest has had added veggies and slow cooking and was coming into maturity late last night. It's superb and I look forward to it today.

Has anyone made celeriac chips? Aldi seem to have a lot of them at the moment so I'm tempted to experiment.

The last of the Beef and Veggie stew for dinner and tea. If you remember I had frozen half of the meat and gravy. I got that out and started another stew. I got veggies at Chawdrey's and built it during the day. It will be on song today!
