Curry's handy for that isn't it Eileen.....
Maz will be pleased to know we ventured into healthy eating yesterday. Fish finger butty for dinner and after roasting the lamb cutlets to brown them I took the fat off and chopped the meat. Whole lot with gravy and fat into a big pan and onions, spuds, carrots and a full bag of frozen mixed veg chucked in with a big bunch of fresh mint tied with string straight from the front garden. It argued with itself for a couple of hours and I had a bowl for tea.... Lovely and it will be better today. I shall boil it up again and then freeze it except for two helpings for dinner and tea. This will clear the decks for me treats from the butcher's tomorrow.

Enhanced butties... Beef loaf with pineapple flavoured cottage cheese, olives and branston pickle. Don't knock it till you've tried it! X 2, dinner and tea. Peaches for pudding.

Burger butty with trimmings for breakfast. Made some luxury mash with Cyprus spuds, cream and whey butter and grilled three sausages. So sausage, mash, peas (one sausage) for tea and enough left for two meals today. Might make some of me tomato, onion and garlic sauce to go with it....

Have constructed a Lasagne, and need to pop it in the oven in about half an hour. Trouble is, I am not the least bit hungry as son had shop bought lunch of chicken and chips, and I had a few chips from the large pile he bought. They still seem to be sat in my tummy and won't shift!
I don't normally eat lunch if I have had breakfast ( which I did...two crumpets)

Last night was Fish Fingers, which I thoroughly enjoyed as I haven't had them in ages.

Lots to be said for good fish fingers Maz! I had one helping of mash left so I cooked some bacon ribs (after boiling to reduce the salt) and jerked the meat off. Added what was left of the tomato sauce and two cans of baked beans. Had that with mash for dinner and with chips for tea. Pudding was an apple.

Funny Liz, I have the opposite problem, I have to stop myself cooking! Had a butty with cold jerked rib meat and beans casserole on for dinner and an old fashioned mashed boiled egg butty for tea. Apple for pudding and I have eaten all the fruit so a trip to Chowdrey's today. Can' have a fruitless day!

I go through off and on periods in regard to being interested in cooking. I think if there was just myself to please, I would eat simpler, easier meals.
I get sick of constantly cooking for others, and taking in to account their likes and dislikes.
I am currently having an "off" day, and have taken previously home-made Soup from the freezer today, which I will add dumplings to. (Son not keen on regular Soup, whereas hubby would eat it every night).
Actually, there is a range of things that neither of them will eat. I can't please everyone every night.

I just wish a meal would appear on the table by magic... :laugh5:

I absolutely agree. That's what happens for everyone else in the house. I made fried rice last night and there's enough left over for dinner tonight with some chicken. I also made some anzac biscuits so there's something sweet in the house for a change.

Stanley; I'd rather sew than cook.

Have to agree...I'd rather sew than cook too. Sewing is like gardening to me, in that I can get so absorbed in either task that time simply disappears. If I am sewing, it means I cook either a Curry or Stroganoff or Casserole etc so that the whole lot can go in the oven on low and I know it will always be ready on time.
Hubby and son always come home "starving".
I would so love to be the one returning home to a warm house and something different on the plate each night...that I didn't have to source or prepare.
Then there is the subject of washing up.... ( just can't seem to get good help these days...)

I don't think I'd be able to cope with other people's fads and fancies. But of course I was reared under rationing and it was good training, you never refused anything and cleared your plate. I hate the syndrome where the mother asks the kids "What do you want for tea?" So I sympathise with both of you.
Cold casserole butty for breakfast and casserole and chips for tea with 3 lovely peaches for pudding.

Last of the casserole with mashed spuds for dinner and a dead simple mash and peas for tea. Pear and a peach for pudding. Surprising how good creamy mash with peas can be..... Filling and cheap!

I don't know how it happened but my other half always does the dishes. I don't argue, happy to clean up whatever's left over in the morning. I don't go out to work any more, he still works part time. Good arrangement I think!

I bumped into this recipe yesterday via the Guardian website, and tried it last night.

Carrot and bean Burgers

Quite successful, and very frugal - so long as you omit the fresh coriander. Didn't stick exactly to the recipe - I don't think you need to boil tinned red beans, just wash them, and I used curry powder instead of cumin. I added a teaspoon of hot chilli sauce too.

One small meat pie for dinner then two sausages, mash and peas for tea. Got peckish later and had another meat pie. When Big Kev called in the other day I saw he had a notice in the window of his car. 'No pies left in this vehicle overnight'. I want one.....

Have crumbed slices of Chicken Breast. Son has requested Roast Spuds, Cauliflower and Broccoli Cheese, Roast Carrots, Brussels and Gravy...with bread to mop it up. He won't eat peas, but I fancy some.
No "pudding"....we never eat dessert in this house.

Have just realised that I did my usual trick and worked right through lunch. A bit late to worry about it now (3pm).
Will wait for dinner....
