Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
The mat ball stew X to for dinner and tea. Half a bowl left for today and then a climb up the cupboard door for tea...... Nuts and an apple for a filler. (I know the apples are bad for my bloods but I always think you have to balance variety and taste against the ideal.)

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Last of the meat ball stew for dinner, half a bowl.... Tea was 3 rollmop herrings, some nice Stilton cheese and three thin slices of hard rye bread. Almost a Danish Leaving Meal! Nuts and an apple for afters.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Visited my grand daughters yesterday. They are (of course ) super intelligent and wonderful. Aged six and eight, I bought them a subscription to a magazine called Aquilawhich I thought might be a bit too old for them, but they love it.
Result - we had 'carrot ice cream' for pud. Don't knock it till you've tried it.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Sounds good to me, a good accompaniment to carrot cake. I would only have a very small portion though

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I once persuaded a friend of mine in Northfield to try the Sticky Toffee Pudding with a frozen ice cream centre. He said it was fine but I passed!
I had Scotch egg and peas for dinner and Sausage and baked beans for tea. Both enhanced with the onion, bacon and tomato sauce....... Then nuts and an apple.

I had sausage and some of the tomato, onion and bacon for dinner. Very small portion.
Then I remembered I had two scotch eggs in the freezer dating back to the holiday so I got them out. I had a scotch egg, peas and some of the tomato, onion and bacon for tea. Nuts and an apple for afters.

One sausage and two fried eggs for dinner. I made a tomato and onion sauce with a small tin of Pilchards in it and had that with a sausage and mushy peas for tea.

Have taken some Minced Beef from the freezer.
Using all kinds of delay tactics to avoid making a decision about what I will do with it! ( not in the mood for cooking today)

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I went the opposite way Maz. I haven't cooked a stew for a while so I chucked some mutton chops and a kidney into the slow cooker with a tin of chopped tomatoes and some frozen mixed veggies yesterday.
I had Sausage and tomato and onion (with pilchard Maz!) for dinner, and the same but with a bunch of mixed veggies for tea. Nuts and an apple.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I decided on "Fart Patties" with Salad in the end, Ma'am!
Our English visitors arrive on Thursday. We had thought of a pub meal, but they have had quite a hectic schedule thus far, and I think they will appreciate a home cooked meal with veg. I know we do, when travelling. ( plus they can pop their washing through, while we sip Wine...)

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
That's practical and thoughtful hospitality Maz. I was once talking to a couple of young Antipodean back-packers in Barlick and I invited them to come for a meal, a shower and a quick bash in the laundrette at the top of the street (because they had large dryers). They came and as they left told me that they would never forget the interlude. Haven't heard from then since of course but I'll bet they still remember.
My chops etc in the slow cooker were ready for deboning and de-fatting yesterday morning. I bought sprouts at the greengrocers and cooked them before adding them. So nice to have a mutton stew again and after adjusting the salt a touch it was splendid, had the last sausage and two fried eggs for dinner and the stew for tea.
(Note for Maz, I cut two whole bulbs of Garlick in two and floated them on top of the stew, by teatime all I had to do was fish them out and squeeze them and the individual segments popped out, so much easier than all that tedious preparation.)

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Speaking of sprouts.. I never tried them in a stew. I like them under done.
Here's tonight's effort - even Ma'am would approve, and I only got through about half of it. The sprouts were small, and didn't need any preparation at all. Just chuck 'em into the pan, then throw them onto some chilli mince. I'll be glad when that's all gone.

Ma'am says yum yum! One may add a dod of coleslaw.....
Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Or a sprinkle of Parmesan ( and a little wipe to tidy the edges of the bowl )
Roast tonight...with our English visitors, who will arrive shortly. Febby has mucked in and hoovered the lounge - the mess being some nuts that missed his mouth last night. I've done the white glove tour of all the surfaces. Should pass muster...
