I've taken an interest here. I'm trying to lose some weight, and have adopted the traditional method of cutting out all bread (includes cakes) potatoes rice, and sugar. I should include alcoholic drinks here, but I need a treat every now and then. I've cut down.

That's about it really - it's very simple, and is what people did a long time ago, and actually very similar to Wendy's method, without the modern theory. It's working at the moment - I've lost about 6lbs in the last couple of months, which is very acceptable.

I like the idea of mince and cabbage, I'll try it; and it occurs to me that I have a cauli and a courgette (from next door's allotment) in the fridge - so I'm off to try cauliflower and courgette soup.

Well done Tripps, keep eating enough fat to stop you feeling hungry. Nuts are my downfall, and red wine....

I'm with you David, I don't need totally carb free but cutting back on them has certainly improved my life! I was a backslider for a couple of days and didn't eat enough veggies, I'm back on track now and noticing the improvement!
I had a veggie cook yesterday and grilled some Lincolnshire sausage. So I have a sausage and tomato stew in the slow cooker with loads of veggies. I had it for dinner and tea.

Exactly the same as yesterday. I cooked too many veggies! Even I will admit it's verging on boring but it's cheap, nutritious and butcher's day today!

Well, you do know that in Summer months, the "veg crowd" usually switch to salads Stanley. There are loads of Summer Salad items that could boost your taste buds! Don't limit yourself...you have a long cold season ahead..
I don't hear a lot about you English making the most of Salad, and we certainly haven't enjoyed much on offer in that department on our travels in UK during your Summers. Best we have had is a few limp lettuce leaves with slices of Tomato.
Get inventive with Salad!

Funny thing Maz is that I went off salads a long time ago when they ceased to be seasonal. The first salad of the year was always a treat.
I had the last of the veggies for dinner and a rib steak with tomatoes and eggs for tea.

A Scotch egg and mushy peas for dinner and steak pudding and peas for tea followed by cheese and biscuits and an apple.
I know I'm a creature of habit in just about everything and like my routines, this includes my grub! This is because I've found what suits me best and stick to it. Not everyone's cup of tea I know but I seem the be doing well off it. This is why I hate any forced changes!

I had Scotch egg with mushy peas for dinner but yesterday was a cooking day on free leccy. I roasted a shoulder of mutton and saved the gravy after deboning it and putting it in the freezer. I also cooked sausages and put them with tinned tomatoes in the slow cooker. Wendy brought me red onions, beetroot, carrots and beans so I cooked them and they went in as well with some of the veggie water. By teatime I had a clear veggie soup with sausage and had some of that for tea. Lovely fresh taste! I topped up with half a bowl of muesli and an apple.

I finished off the sausage and Wendy veg for dinner and tea and for pudding in the evening had old fashioned stewed plums and Bird's custard. So simple and yet so refreshing. (Good for transit times as well!)

Lunch was in Skipton so I had steak pie, chips and mushy peas. I bought a meat pie and an Eccles cake for tea and had the last of the stewed plums and custard for pudding. I have veggies to cook so I shall be back on the Wendy Plan today!

My Beef Meatballs, with Pasta ( only a small amount of Pasta) in my homemade ( no added Salt) Tomato and Veg Sauce was "lip smacking lovely". Feeling pleasantly full...but haven't overdone it.

I had the roast mutton shoulder I cooked last Sunday and the gravy in the fridge. I took the fat off the gravy and popped it in the deep fryer. Then cut the mutton into bite size chunks and put it in the slow cooker with the gravy. In the meantime I had steamed/boiled baby spuds (Sorry Wendy), broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and cabbage. I put some of the veggie water in the slow cooker to get level up and then topped up the meat with veggies until the cooker was full. I had a big pan full of cabbage and cauli left on the stove. By 10:00 the stew was ready and I had it for dinner and tea. Lovely clean taste and clear gravy as there were no tomatoes in it. I had cheddar biscuits for afters.
One thing that struck me.... For a month now my favourite oatcakes have been missing from the supermarket shelves. They reappeared this week but when I opened the pack I noticed that what had been four individual packs of seven this oatcakes had become four packs of six thinner ones but they are the same price. Another price rise has been small tins of Smedley's mushy peas. They started life in the Co-op at 17p, a real bargain. Then they went to 18p and I noticed this week they are now 22p. Still cheap but just one more example of how food prices are rising......

The last of the mutton and veggies augmented by some peas for dinner and tea. I even used the last of my cheese for afters, I can't remember my fridge ever being bereft of cheese before! I think a visit to the Cathedral of Choice is indicated. Today will be cod and veggies and roasting mutton on free leccy ready for the next stew.

Welcome overall but they didn't make sufficiently clear the difference between good and bad fats. No mention of the necessary balance between long chain Omega 3 and Omega 6 and unless my eyes deceive me they have included nuts and seeds in the pic of carbohydrates.
I had a late dinner of fish and chips with peas and half a bowl of veggies for tea with cheese and biscuits after.
