Steak pudding on its own for Dinner and small pork pie on its own for tea. Didn't feel hungry..... Don't worry, no signs of me wasting away!

I got the recipe for the pizza base. Don't have any Almond Flour in the pantry ( got every other kind of flour though :laugh5: )
It will have to wait until shopping day.
I've only had one tiny slither of Pizza since being diagnosed as Diabetic. I shy away from all carbs nowadays...
( if I have a pie Stanley, I make a hole in it and eat only the filling, no pastry.)

Almond Flour is just the same as ground almonds, either/or will do the job.

Scrambled egg with smoked salmon and smoked streaky bacon for brunch today, I'm cooking a large bucket of chilli for tea, there'll be a fair bit left to pot up for the freezer which will provide sustenance when I'm in the office :good:

I have some pork and pepper sausage (had a butty for lunch at the trig). Remainder will be turned into a sausage stir thing with tomatoes, baked beans, onions and peppers. That will also produce some portions for the freezer.

Salmon steaks fried in butter, asparagus and purple sprouting broccoli (from the garden ....must be my most favourite vegetable, delicious, full of goodness, easy to grow and cropping now when nothing else is.)

I've just spent 2 hours cleaning my kitchen. Did the oven, hob, glass splashbacks, benches, door fronts and floor. So I don't want to cook tonight! :laugh5: I just want to admire it.
The oven has a vapour clean system, but I still have to bend over to wipe it out once it has finished, and clean the glass door.
( I ache a bit now...)

Time I had a new oven and grill, this one is over 30 years old....
Cooked carrots and parsnips and mashed them. Meat ball and veggies with mash for dinner and tea.The meat balls in tomato sauce were made by Browns, nice but I shan't bother again.

Fresh Fish tonight (Garfish, caught by our neighbours when they went deep sea fishing). Beautiful fish. Not sure what to have with it but I have loads of Veg in the fridge.
I made Moussaka last night and have frozen the leftover for a meal in our van.

Baked Veg Slice tonight.
Even though hubby refused to come to the free Diabetes Information Semminar on Wednesday, he has finally started reading the food information labels in the supermarket, checking out the carbs. It took us twice as long to get the shopping done today (I have created a monster!)
It is a good thing though and he got a few shocks today. He eats far more carbs than I do.

Last small bowl of meat ball and veggies for dinner. Pickled Herring and eggs for tea.
On the oven front I have asked Garlick's for a quotation for a new oven and grill unit including installation and disposal of the old unit. I shall get that to my trustees and the expectation is that they will approve it.
Susan and I were trying to work out how old this oven is. I thought that she bought it new but she told me it was already in the house she lived in when they were repossessed and I stripped it for her before that happened. That's how I finished up with her kitchen and installed it here at East Hill street over 20 years ago. As far as we can work out it's at least 30 years old and quite possibly more. It's an AEG Regal and I suspect top of the range when new. A good advertisement for buying the best. We shall see what Garlick's come up with, I suspect we're talking about £500.

We fall off the wagon on a Friday night and get a take away. Usually lightly battered fish plus a small portion of chips between 2 of us the dog and the hens. I make a salad while Chef nips down the road to the chippy. Last night's was greasy and horrible but Chef enjoys them.
All this week I have been enjoying strawberries from the poly tunnel for my breakfast ...yum yum!

At the Diabetic Semminar their message is "that if you have a nice meal you enjoy now and then, don't feel guilty!". Just don't have it every day. Enjoy your food.
Our Veg Slice was nice, but as we were eating it my son messaged to say they were having Pizza delivered tonight. I am particularly fond of Pizza, and did feel deprived. Couldn't find Almond Flour anywhere today.(possibly we could have tried at the very expensive health food shop) Pizza will have to wait.
Son is going to send me a pic of their Pizza delivery ( kind child he is) so I can drool...

Gawd...three large Pizzas and a big Garlic Bread, ordered for just 2 people! I couldn't believe the photo.
The pizzas did look nice, but who can eat that many carbs?!!!
I am happy to be digesting my Vegetable Slice with a slow glass of Red wine.

I had the remainder of the Lamb Kleftico I made on Thursday for Jack and myself. Not tried it in the slow cooker before. Worked reasonably OK as I used diced Lamb. Had all the ingredients in hand, plumb tomatoes, garlic, lemon, oregano from the garden and feta, all apart from the potatoes and I managed to get the wrong ones! They were red but not "waxy" enough and fell. Still tasted OK and my portion last night was very welcome after my walk.

I had Kleftico in a restaurant - not really knowing what it was, several years ago and enjoyed it. The used about half a lamb shoulder. Lamb's very expensive now.

No, big fat ones. :extrawink:

In Greece it is cooked with meat on the bone. It's shepherds or peasants lamb stew traditionally slow cooked in an earth oven. It's the combination of oregano, garlic and lemon with tomato that gives it the special flavour. It's my favourite Greek dish. Best restaurants in Greece start it cooking early in the morning for serving in the evening.
