WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Maz is very impressed indeed with your veg, Stanley.
We couldn't pack any fresh Veg or Fruit in the van when we left on Saturday. Border controls re fruit and veg carry hefty fines...you cannot carry fresh fruit or veg over the border. This is to protect crops and orchards both sides of the border. Gathering some fruit and veg tomorrow as we head out of our current location. We did a long walk today and I couldn't be bothered carrying anything the long walk back to the van, some of our journey being across bush land. Plenty of food in the van and we shall not starve! (Mac Cheese and Meatballs tonight..
We will have to make the same choice as we head back through the border next weekend. Border control has the right to search your van. Doesn't happen often, but the fines are high. Not worth the risk. Plus, I respect what they do and why they do it.
But tomorrow, we feast on Veg. Our bowels look forward to it...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I had stew and veggies for dinner with a slice of apple pie for afters. Straight veggies for tea with another small slice of pie. (I know, but a little of what you fancy does you good!)

We had the remains of the chicken chasseur from Saturday with cauliflower and kalettes (which are a cross between kale ànd sprouts.)

Never come across 'kalettes' Wendy. Are they a recent hybrid?

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Yes I think the hybrid was developed a while ago but Kalette is actually a brand name for kale sprouts. Someone is doing a big marketing job on them!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
They must be here, Wendy, because I heard of kalettes just days ago on a cooking show. Yet to see them in shops, but then, even purple sprouts are rare here ( saw them on cooking shows months ago). We wait...in expectation...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I'm still on green sprouts...... I had stew and veggies for dinner and straight veggies for tea. I have the rest of the veggies cornered in the slow cooker now. Four helpings to see me through to Friday. We are on track with no waste!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
A bacon chop, scrambled eggs and yet more kalettes!
Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
We had BBQ sausages, Bacon, Onions and Sauce...wrapped in fresh bread. We are parked under a rather large tree tonight, and hubby kept getting bombarded by something from above. After the fourth hit, I investigated what was falling on him, as he kept calling out "Ouch" each time something hit his head. I looked closely, and it was a hard pellet shape...not a tree nut or seed. "This is poo of some sort" I declared.
Three Koalas in the tree above and he was sitting directly below one big furry Koala's backside!
We moved the table and chairs 3 feet and he fared much better.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I trust the BBQ itself wasn't also directly under the offending koala?

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
No, the BBQ was spared.
However, we have an extendable clothes line, attached to the van side, which may be in the firing line....and unfortunately I have a few items on there that are too damp to bring inside tonight...including tea towels and underwear. Everything will have to pass the "sniff" test before I bring it inside tomorrow morning. (Oh dear...that sounds rather strange...but you know what I mean)
We wondered why we passed a sign saying "Koalas Rule Here!" As we entered the park.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Only one casualty from the Koala fallout...one tea towel had to go back in the washing bag. Everything else passed critical inspection.
Red Salmon Mornay tonight. (Made a few weeks ago, frozen, and will be popped in the camp oven with some Naan Bread)

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Koala poo is one hazard we don't have in Barlick.......
Last of the mutton and veggies for dinner and tea. Nibbled on nuts and an apple for afters.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Rode our bikes along the beach to the Fish and Chip Shop..Fish and Chips on the lawn beside the beach, then cycled back to the van for afternoon siesta. This is a great life, but home tomorrow.
