We're also thinking of you and your family, Stanley. It won't be a joyous time for you but we send you all our seasonal greetings. Please keep your spirits up.

I know Stanley will want us to carry on as usual on OGFB, especially with it being Christmas. And it helps buoy him up too.

Thanks to all of you and yes, keep posting! Posting on OG and the Shed are my attempts to impose order on a chaotic and surreal time. No up to date news as yet today, everyone is so busy caring for my little girl.... My understanding is that she is sedated and not taking food or drink..... I'm sure you'll all understand when I say that the Xmas present I want most is to hear she has slipped quietly away in her sleep..... Terrible, but she has suffered enough, time to let go.

Just had confirmation from Susan that Janet is now on continuous sedation. She is peaceful and relaxed and will not waken again. She is a strong young woman physically so it may be a few days before she slips away. Main thing is that she is beyond pain now. Susan says the atmosphere in the house is lovely, peaceful and calm. I am so glad that Janet and I spoke only four days ago and said our goodbyes, we both knew then what the outcome would be.
Don't be too sad, she accomplished everything she wanted to do in the time she had and leaves some lovely memories.
Love to you all.

It is so sad Stanley, but what a brave caring lady to ensure that everyone will have happy memories. I always think it is especially sad at Christmas. Thinking of you my friend

So sad and too soon, yet wonderful that she will be able to slip out of this world free of pain and distress and isn't faced with years of severe disability and mental confusion. She would want you now to start polishing up your store of family memories, great times together, love, joy and humour. Love, Tizer & Mrs Tiz xxx

You are both dead right..... We had the benefit of her for over 50 years and that's a lot of good memories. Lots of people aren't that lucky.... Thanks for caring.

Don't worry Liz, you aren't God! Nobody can make anything better. All we can do is our best and there is no doubt that everyone has given 100%. Janet is at peace, she's on barbiturates now as well as the opiates as there were signs they were losing efficacy. This is the big guns and authority had to sought from the doctors before doing it. The combination is working and it won't be long now. Main thing is Janet is pain free and relaxed at long last. I am OK, I've let her go, after all I had the benefit of 50 years with her.

When a baby is born, it is mostly attended by Mum, ( hopefully Dad) and a midwife or two. Grandparents and extended family later meet and welcome the child...after the enormous effort of labour and birth has occurred within a closely knit event.
Death is a bit the same. Only close loved ones have the honour ( and sadness) of being close.
But there are many of us waiting outside that closed door, sending our thoughts. We can't be part of it, but we wonder every few minutes how it is all going, and that it will be a good passing...not only for the person getting on with the business of dying, but for those close loved ones who are hurting.
Rest assured, it's quite crowded out here...

Our thoughts and sympathies are with you Stanley. Having been in the same situation I know that there are no words for the loss of a child. There will be time to celebrate one who was loved and a life well lived. For now take care and look after yourself.
