I agree. This is neither a cold nor flu. I suppose it is that type of cold that has similar symptoms to flu. Very tired and achey not much of a runny nose. I know its not flu because we managed a couple of 2 mile walks in the cold brisk air. No snow yet

Same here Wendy but a bit more wind during the night. Meanwhile, things are back to normal in the shed, I'm making muck again!

My cousin's family who live nearby have all been ill since Christmas/New Year. A very bad, persistent cough, weakness and no appetite. They're all normally very fit and do lots of sport but this made them take to their beds. The mum & dad are both self-employed so they don't take `time off' unless they're very ill. At least they're on the mend now.

Good Sue, I saw the reports of the increase in Flu yesterday, the numbers rose 40% in some areas last week.
It's shopping day today but I hope to get in the shed for more satisfying hand work, it does me so much good!

Hard luck Sue.... When I hear things like that I am reminded that my life, while it has been dangerous at times, has been a doddle compared to some. I hope you get rid of it quickly. Eat raw onions!!
Today is cooking and washing on free leccy! A bit of shed if I can manage it.....

I had three women colleagues in the 1980s/90s who developed ME. Two were in industry, one a scientist and the other an engineer, and the third an expert on Japan who ran her own publishing business. All three were determined, hard-working women who set high standards for themselves and I got the feeling that stress brought on the ME. Does that description fit you too, Sue?

Yup sounds like me. Dreadful viral gastric type bug whilst on holiday that never cleared coinciding with numerous changes at work. Stress levels through the roof. Wanted everything to be just right and it was not possible. I was really ill, even in hospital for tests 6 months later. I could manage a day at work then in bed for 6. Awful experience. Some days I couldn't get up, didn’t eat and just slept.felt like I had been kicked all over. Random fever on those days. Took about Three years before i stopped having random days ill and off work. It was 1987, the illness seemed to peak about then. My sister had it 10 years ago, similar story

It sounds like you had it worse than some ME sufferers, Sue, although one of the women I knew was left dependent on a wheelchair.

I thought I had got off lightly...so many ended up in a wheel chair. However the long term effects are felt whenever I get an infection. Still ill by the way.

Its still there, next to no voice, cough, sore throat and blocked sinuses that nothing will touch. Done the full works, steaminhalations, decongestants, olbas oil which makes me sneeze furiously and leaves a burning feel in my nostrils and throat. I haven’t had a full nights sleep since a week last Sunday. The kitchen and steam inhalation is a lonely place at 3.00 a.m. on top of that my lips have split with the constant moisture and last weeks drying wind.

Whatever it is I hope it starts to recede Sue, sounds awful..... I always found that chewing gum helped as it moves the bones about in your temples and isn't there a decongestant out there in chewing gum form? Any port in a storm!

I went to the pharmacist yesterday and they gave me a different decongestant in Benylin, plus it promotes sleep. I had a decent sleep last night but the throat is worse! I am hoping that once I am showered and dressed I will feel the benefit of the sleep.

As you for you Mas...NO COMMENT :laugh5: . Anyway its difficult to take a selfie with your head stuck in a bowl with a towel over it!
