Maz, I was only referring to the dogs on buses or public transport which seems a bit daft and contra to the common sense rules for eating establishments and the like, we are similar in that way over here. The bus job is just a tad over the top for me and I don't even have a dog. I bet you don't have as many dogs per head of population as we do though or am I wrong in assuming that?

There are too many regulations today. What's the difference in terms of allergies between a seeing-eye dog and a pet? I'm allergic to evangelists but nobody has ever made a regulation they can't come knocking on my door day and night...... Never had a complaint about Jack......
Bill, I can understand your family's misgivings, my daughters weren't too sure about my plans until I told them of my idea for the commemoration event which changed everything and they became enthusiastic. As Barbara said to me the other day when she alerted me to Direct Funerals; she regards her body as a suitcase and when she dies it's empty. Her family saw the point.... I have an idea your mother may be of the same opinion.... Another point, I told my daughters I wanted it my way and promised it would be the last time I issued a three line whip!

I shall be in the shed. It struck me yesterday that with a bigger base I could go into the candlestick business....

Later..... I have written the Bancroft polemic and it will be in next week's BET......

Had a day in Monets garden and home today. Been before but it is certainly a place to revisit. I love it, so tranquil. Tomorrow is the Bayeux tapestry with our friends Wendy and Keith

The Sunday of August Bank Holiday weekend three years ago at this time, 10am or thereabouts I was getting ready to fall of my bike and and crack a couple of ribs. I didn't know this at the time of course but it made the rest of the intended 84 miles for the day very interesting (and painful). Playing it safe today and will probably go for a walk.

Back from Bayeux at 27 degrees to our house at 32 degrees. The forecast rain was during the night so we didn't need our waterproofs

Yes, it was very pleasant and quite uneventful apart from the bag of blackberries we gathered on our route, early sloes as well. All will help for the next batch of hedgerow jelly. :biggrin2:

We were getting to the end of our tether on the Way of the Roses Coast to Coast by now, lost on the route out of York. Another five miles and we were done having run out of food, water, energy bars (and energy), no more jelly babies either at around 75miles.

Today at 33 degrees and 90% humidity I would rather like 15 degrees.

Our French neighbour Roland came for his lunch today. Roast beef , carrots, and my own runner beans and roast potatoes. No Yorkshire pudding as we have finished the eggs and running our fresh food stocks down. After was plum crumble, plums from a couple of years ago, it was the last packet in the freeze, accompanied by. ANGLAISE CREME ANGLAIS. As we explained the difference between English custard and French creme anglais( a Cold sickly sweet concoction)

I have picked the rest of the runner beans, chillis, ripe tomatoes, tomatillos, red cabbage, corn Cucumber and courgettes. I have frozen some and will take the rest home. The neighbours have been told to help themselves of anything that comes ripe. We have a bumper crop of blackberries but have no time to pick any more and the freezer is full.

That is quite a meal, considering the temperature.
:biggrin2: I would have stuck to a Ploughman's...

Looking on the net today for "art" for our lounge room walls. If we are going to do this Art Deco thing, it is time we put our money where our mouths are. the thing is that I wont know what I want until I see it, so it could be a long search (and i need at least 3 big pieces that match in some way). Considering it took us years to get the doors installed, I'm not in a great rush.

Marilyn the French all eat their main meal at lunchtime, we found it hard in the heat! However I did do much smaller portions than normal and lots of fluid other than wine to drink! Our elderly neighbour lives by himself and cooks a limited range of dishes. As it was our last chance to invite him for a meal before our return to the UK on Wednesday, we wanted to give him a different meal.

They've modified the forecast in the last two hours. We now have steady rain until noon and a brighter afternoon. This will not damp our spirits!

Everyone arrived on time and it stopped raining five minutes into our voyage down the cut. Sunshine all the way and lunch al fresco. We sailed through the Mile Tunnel and had it at Barrowford Locks then back to LPM. It started raining again as we disembarked. A lovely day!
