Not helped though by the misguided or crazy people that keep voting for them. I feel honour bound to try and re-educate them. :extrawink:

Meeting Julia and the girls at PIcadilly train station in Manchester at 10.30, then off by taxi ( cheaper than train or bus for all of us) to the Science museum for the day, followed by a trip home on the tram. The start of a busy few family days

Enjoy it Sue! I am having the same experience.... Wendy visits this morning followed by Margaret from Oz and her family, I dine out with the whole family on Sunday, again on Tuesday and the wedding on Thursday. I shall have to have a fridge full of nibbles! The whole world-wide family plus Muthomi's parents from Kenya, are gathered together. It will never happen again and I'm so glad I have lived long enough to see it!

Clans are gathering all over the place. We are picking our Ruby up today, a half and half journey down the M6 to Sandbach. I hope the motorway is kind and the majority of traffic has gone.

More of them..... Three hours of high end conversation yesterday, they are OK I think. Tonight is the first banquet! Everyone will be there at the Jade Palace in Earby. I shall be resting and scrubbing up!
By the way, no industrial scale cooking this week, I have three meals out and will wing the rest. Plenty in fridge and cupboards, we will not starve! Washing and vacuuming......

You're right Sue, I could wax lyrical about them. Kids like this make you feel more optimistic about the state of society and the world.

Taking all three of ours to the Clarion House Cake Day. We already have Ruby and Carla is bringing Isla and Finlay over and they will be sleeping over. Bit of a double edged sword as around 4000 of the good folks of Silsden have not had any gas since Thursday so no cooking, hot water no showers or baths! Carla will take advantage for a soak in our shower before heading home.Major incident for Silsden of course and emergency catering is being supplied via mobile food vans and vended at the Town Hall. Vulnerable folk have been put up in hotels for the duration. Gas will be reinstated but they have to disconnect every household affected and then turn them back on in a phased order. I think about 150 engineers have been gathered in from all over the country to effect the reconnect. Council supplied over 1000 portable electric heaters but it was reported on social media last night that some areas of the town had overloaded the trips in the sub station as everyone was using more electric. Never rains but it pours.

Anyway, the cake day involves a choice of two rambles both of which take in previous properties used as Clarion Houses before the present site at Dimpenley was secured. Coal fire will be burning in the grate so we will be plenty warm enough when we get back.

We had a family tea at Claires. Its rare we all get together. Both daughters and husbands and the three grandchildren. Claire excelled herself on her catering and made a wonderful cake with the help of 4 year old Erin who cut all the flowers out. Apparently the body is on a stick can be bought from cake craft shops. Ideal for fairy and princess loving little girls. Apparently the idea was originally for Erins birthday cake but failed. Yesterday it was a roaring success, filled with a chocolate strawberry sponge cake

I have another family meal tonight at the Eagle at Barrow..... I have pre-ordered, Olives for starters then fish and chips with cheese to follow. I shall be conserving my strength by doing very little today! Then a rest day and the wedding on Thursday at Waddington.

Life returns to normal today, although I have a meeting this morning instead of yoga. This afternoon is the hospice shop, then pilates at 5.30 pm. A friend usually pops round for a cuppa around 9.00 in the evening after her exercise class. Otherwise a bit of sewing and a bit of TV
