Thanks Kev, that's the general idea, the roof should outlast the rest of the shed. I got it wrong the EPDM rubber has a 50 year guarantee. :biggrin2:

My cousin convinced me I should try a `dry' wash & polish product on my car instead of the old wet washing. Giving me a bottle for free persuaded me! It worked well but I still don't understand how it can do the job without grinding the dirt particles into the paint.

Thunderstorms forecast all day here in Washington, its a day for indoor tourism. I got bitten to death by mosquitos yesterday and as usual have had a bad reaction. I never thought of the little monsters when I packed and did not bring the medication the Dr gave me for such events.

Only three more days, we fly home on Tuesday evening.. Hopefully my friends cases should be here by then, they are staying for another 5 weeks. Keith phoned Holland America headoffice and that seems to have resolved the stalemate. Ie HA had found the cases but found any excuse not to ship them. They are now coming by DHL!

I once stopped off at Washington DC for a couple of days in 1980 and it was thundery then, 100% humidity and almost 100F. It nearly put my lights out and yes, the mossies were active.....

Give my regards to Mr Jefferson. My favourite memorial.
I finished my doorknocker, today I shall be fitting the new and very expensive bolts to the big 3 jaw chuck.....

:biggrin2: well...I was going to say you have a superb knocker, but just couldn't bring myself to say it. You need one for the back door now. I have rapped on your back door and it took a while for you to answer ( few years ago mind....)

I need to take 1/2" off the bottom as the grandchildren used to stand on the bottom rail when they were smaller and it has dropped slightly. They are all under pain of death if they repeat. I will regularise the hinges when I rehang the gate. It needs new fastening hardware as the sneck dropped off during Winter, the mounting pinion gave up the ghost. I know that I know a bloke who could fix it but I have bits missing now (not necessarily a problem no doubt), but its easier to get a new set with pristine powder coating. The through gate sneck and associated bits don't really owe me anything, it came off the old gate and has been on this one for around 10 years.

Stanley wrote: 21 May 2018, 02:33 Nice one Sue! Have a look at the Jefferson Memorial in Washington... far better than the Lincoln I reckon. If you go to the museums, Bob would like the Smithsonian Arts and Industries, lots of steam in there!
I shall be pottering in the shed with my chucks!
The Arts and Industries has closed down due to it being almost irrepairable. Yesterday we we went to the American Indian Museum and the National geographia. Rain didn’t start till 5.00. Today it is rather unseasonal, raining and 16 degrees. Out for brunch no other decisions made yet.

We found all the transport stuff in the Museum of America. It was rather good. Personally I enjoyed the exhibition of the inauguration dresses of the first ladies dating back to the mid 18 hundreds. There were some fine creations!

No, not closing museums. The arts and industry museum has had major repairs but needs more. So it is closed indefinitely.

It rained beavily all day but was a nice comfortable temperature. Today we are taking a coach trip to Mount Vernon. Tomorrow we pack and fly home

There are 4 strap hinges laying in my front yard if they're of any use to you, or anyone else for that matter.
