"Col built a wooden frame to allow three to hang side by side " What a lovely bloke he is......
I came in from the shed to brew up and heard a little whimper from my pea and ham soup..... I realised it was crying out for onion! I cut and chopped a big Spanish onion and stirred it in. That's better.... Chaudrey's have lovely big Spanish onions, 45p a kg, they peel well and are lovely.

We have horse manure delivered each autumn by the same man but we shall decline this year as the flower beds are higher than their retaining walls and need to settle a bit.

I think that only a short walk is called for today as the weather is rather threatening. Mind you we often walk further than intended once we get going. I shall do a little sewing this afternoon as I progress through my tasks set by Maxine in my lesson on Monday. I want to get the sewing tasks finished so I can get on with making the pattern for the denim Jacket I have designed. Pilates this evening.

I am always astounded by the fact that many people walk so little Sue. I think it's a no-brainer to walk for at least an hour a day breathing in fresh air no matter what the weather. It doesn't need to be brisk walking either, I don't do 'brisk' these days!

We did 6 miles at a relatively good pace as it was drizzling hard. We walked the old railway track, now a walk and cycle route, from home to Healey Dell and along the track to New Line reservoir in Brittania, Bacup. The track has all been uograded for bikes, it was very good indeed. We used our bus passes to catch the bus home , back in just under the three hours....we had to wait for the bus! In the afternoon i finished my dress and did a couple of loads of washing. Not good drying weather though.

Today is art this morning, and yoga tonight, otherwise I shall be looking at my list of sewing tasks and cracking on with the pattern making.

This morning I'll be helping to prepare the exhibition for the book launch on Sunday then after lunch I'm back to log stacking. Colin cleared the pile of junk out of a bay in the barn so we can fill it with logs. I started bringing them in from outside yesterday and have cleared one store with the same again to shift today. It's back aching work but one of my favourite tasks. The logs were cut and split before last winter from timber that's been sat outside for 4 years at least so it's well seasoned and ready to keep us warm and cosy!

It was too wet and gloomy to work outside yesterday and it looks the same again today so my log stack will have to wait till next week. Back to Earby this morning to set out tables, chairs and exhibition boards ready for the main event tomorrow. Not certain what I'll do this afternoon, cleaning probably.

Last night I sorted out my warmer clothes and packed my summer stuff into a case to go into the loft. I felt so much warmer yesterday with a jumper on rather than T shirt , and socks so decided it was time. Well it is October now. Today is bedding changing day then this afternoon I am going out with Claire and Erin. We may have our tea out. Adam is working till 10.00 and Bob is at a model engineers meeting in Derby and won’t be back till late. I hope the good afternoon actually appears. It has a tendency not to do that up here in Rochdale

You've no idea how welcome the laugh was at the end. Glad no offence was caused.

I googled it since I thought we may well have a new 'disorder' here. No direct result so we may have a first, but this is close. OCT disorder Sounds nasty.

Ha ha, and no offense Tripps. I thought it was funny actually.

We had a fun afternoon at Huntley farm , near Salmesbury Hall yesterday with Erin and Claire. What an amazing maze. Its the first maze I have ever been in when you couldn’t see out or where to go. We had to find 13 clues about the wizard of oz, somewhere in the maze. We were in there 45 minutes and only found 7. This was followed by afternoon tea, and then 30 minutes play for Erin on the pirate ship play area with numerous bits to climb up and several slides including a curved enclosed chute. There was one very tired little girl last night.

Nothing like tiring children out Sue. That was one of the great advantages of rearing daughters on a farm, they had their own adventure playground....

The Earby Band book launch went very well yesterday...... people came, 65 books sold and the band put on a fine performance!
This morning I shall be trying to make space in the freezer for half a lamb. This evening I'm off to Ilkley to listen to Simon Armitage reading from his translation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. (In a church by candlelight!)

Today is mixed meds day. I go to find out what it is that is worrying my GP about me bladder (It's not affecting me!) and Jack gets his annual jabs later so it will be a busy morning and the shed will suffer. But we're getting there!
