It will definitely all be different in six months, I'm just shocked at BG's tariff prices.

This is a good radio programme on the present gas and oil situation and its relationship to climate issues. The next episode is on `Energy security and the war in Ukraine'.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
Just a reminder to take meter readings on Thursday (31st) especially if you don't have a smart meter. It may also be prudent to take readings from smart meters too as the price change will produce a lot of 'traffic' which could potentially impact metering software. A photograph of the meter, showing the reading and any identifying marks, will be the easiest way of getting the best information.
This isn't guaranteed 'insider' information, it's just all suppliers will be implementing price changes for April which could impact their systems and potentially lead to pricing errors.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
I also had it down as a 'to do' item. I read the gas meter and send the reading in every month, I shall do the Leccy as well. Thanks Kev.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
Perhaps a bit cynical but the increase in price of energy could be said to be a Brexit benefit. If we were still in the EU and especially France our bills would be much lower and we would be burning the same as before but now having gained sovereignty we can hike them up until the pips squeak. Obviously the demand will drop making our greenhouse gas output much lower putting it at the top of Jacob Rees-Mogg's Brexit benefit league table. In the short term the right-wing pundits will quote supply and demand effects where the price will plummet back to normal in short shrift. Of course this will never happen because although the UK may languish in the world recover league the rest of the world will eat up the available energy to meet their expanding economies.

There's a bit of a theme going on today and it's not just Eon.

A digital photograph and then email it to yourself, it'll have a date/timestamp then. I doubt any supplier will query the reading validity but you never know.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
No problem uploading my gas and electric meter readings to Octopus. There is a note on the website that they will accept readings up to Saturday which is the earliest that they are actioning any increases.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
Eon had increased my monthly DD by £3.99 a month, I've calculated my expected usage (based on the last 12 months) and increased it by another £26.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
That would be a 'rounding error' in my situation. Plus £106 per month.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
Ah! Righto. I have until the end of May before the gas price changes. I can work out how much I should be paying and adjust accordingly.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
A quick tot up, using Eon's Next Flex gas tariff (which I'll be on from June 1st) comes in at £76 a month based on the last 12 month's usage. So £156 a month for gas and elec, a £66 increase.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
I've just been listening to the NIMBYs in Wilshire talking about solar and wind farms 'destroying the land'. Twaddle. If you take them out when we get fusion you can start farming again. Nobody is saying that about tree planting for carbon credit which does destroy the land for agriculture for at least 150 years.
Perhaps people who object to onshore wind and solar should have to register that objection and be charged more for their energy. That would be fair I think.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS
Quite Kev. Problem is twaddle or no, politicians only see them as potential votes. The MP was agreeing with them. Policy on energy should not be decided on a whim but on facts.
