Our fingers crossed too!

Remember how I've ranted about big pharma in the US pushing opioid drugs on prescriptions and making millions of people addicts? This is the family that owns the major company involved...

Gosh, Oxycontin, I was on that for months when I first hurt my back. Luckily I found it easy to stop using it when I had improved somewhat.
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here. :)

I've always had a very healthy mistrust of strong pain killers, it appears to have served me well....

Like Cazza, I can't imagine a problem once I am pain free. Every pill I swallow is counted by the Government...I am well aware of that. Authorisation has to be sourced for every script. And they keep me comfortable on the minimum dose. I don't seek more, and I never exceed my dose. But life would certainly be hell without them.
I am told that once I have the operation, the pain relief is instant.
I look forward to that...and can't imagine a problem stopping the pills.
I am grateful for the pain relief I get,.and would hate to see it cease because some folk abuse it and get hooked.

I understand Marilyn, I wasn't commenting on anybody else's experience other than my own. God knows I know about necessary pain relief, they pumped so much into Janet that it was what finally killed her but it was necessary. Who knows, I might find myself in that position one day......

I can't imagine the pain Janet may have been in...bless her.
What I am saying, is don't lump all consumers of opiates in one basket. Like I said - if you need them, you need them. Hopefully, like me, only for a set time...monitored...and in minimal dosages.

I'm worried about Moh. I haven't heard from her in over a month. Very unusual.
I wonder if she has been laid up in hospital.

I've just checked Moh's Facebook page and linked to her daughter's page. Very sad to report that Moh passed away on Friday 8th March in Blackburn Hospital.

. Exactly my thoughts. I used to look forward to some of the dishes she cooked up. Its surprising that even if you have never seen them personally by reading their posts you feel you know them as an old friend. A sad loss.

I assume Maz will have replied to Wendy by PM so forgive me if I post a news story here.

`Why are university students catching mumps?' LINK
`Mumps - a contagious viral infection that causes swelling of the glands - has been in the news this week following a confirmed outbreak at two universities. A total of 223 suspected cases were reported, with 40 confirmed, across Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham. That has now risen to 241 suspected cases with 51 confirmed by Public Health England (PHE). BBC News has taken a look at why this is and whether university students are still at risk.'

Potentially because of their parents not taking advantage of the MMR jabs when they were small children...
