Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
I second Maz. Take it easy Moh and let things readjust. Main thing is that the infection stays away!

He is coping very well - thank goodness. I am still on anti-biotics so the testing time will be when they finish, like last time. I have an appointment next week at the fracture clinic so we will see what they say.
Say only a little but say it well.

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Thanks Liz, only two sleeps! I keep trying to imagine what it will be like to have two good eyes working together. You can't tell by closing the bad eye because your brain isn't used to monocular vision.

All the best for tomorrow.Stanley wrote:One more sleep.....
I can remember how amazed I was when I got my first pair of specs and how much I had been missing even though my eyesight was still good enough to pass for driving LGVs. Eyesight is something we should appreciate but somehow take for granted.

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Thanks China. You are right and when you start to actually lose it you become very aware of the benefits of being able to see. I timed it just right because reading is very difficult now, all that will change if this one goes well and I get proper reading glasses. I'll admit to getting excited!

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Good luck tomorrow, Stanley!
Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Sending you lots of good thoughts Stanley. When will you be back on deck?
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here.
Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Good Luck for tomorrow Stanley
Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Yes good luck - a friend of ours who had it done, and had worn glasses to read, now finds he can read without any!
Say only a little but say it well.
Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Wishing you an easy experience and a perfect outcome! Good luck Stanley!

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Good luck Stanley, I'll see if I can have some LTP eye candy sorted for later in the week.

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
I wonder how long he can force himself to stay away.
I bet he will be sneaking a peek as soon as he can.

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Thanks to all of you. Moh, if the left one is anything to go by I'll need reading glasses.
If my experience with the first eye is anything to go by I shall be here as usual tomorrow morning. The improvement is instantaneous because it's a replacement lens, only a tiny incision at the edge to heal up. Looking forward to being on the table about 18:00 today....

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
All went well. Sight in right eye still blurred as the effects of the anaesthetic slowly wear off. First impressions are that it's as good as the left eye but time will tell. The pupil is still dilated, those are powerful drops they put in! I did this pic for the kids this morning to reassure them I was OK. Sorry about the gormless expression!
The surgeon said 'it was a good procedure'. That's about as far as you'd expect him to go, they don't want to get your hopes up! From my experience with the other I'd say it was OK. Tried my El Cheapo readers and they work fine.

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Lovely to see you!
You look a little pale to us, but then the English always do!
Yes...they are powerful drops. Having one eye dilated and the other normal can also make you feel a bit sick.
Take it easy today...and stay out of the wind with that eye...

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Excellent Stanley, a few days and you should be reight as a bobbin.
Finlays turn tomorrow, he will be at Leeds General Infirmary having a milk tooth out as he has developed a flaring abscess on one of his first molars. He's not been right for a couple of weeks, eating at one side and random temperatures. 3 minute job but needs general anaesthetic to get the job done. Tooth is not rotten but they need to get it out. It's not sugar related, apparently you can get this without it being triggered by decay.

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
My lad fell off his trike and bumped his front teeth, pan biker. A week later...abscess...two teeth removed in the dentists chair after the merest whiff of gas. Dentist told him he was going up in a spaceship and the lad bought it. Aged 2.
( meanwhile mother is trying not to pass out as she holds son's legs down and watches the procedure...a two year old's mouth not being terribly far away from his feet!)
Finlay will be ok. Stocked up on ice blocks, Grandad? They are very soothing.

All looking and sounding good Stanley (oh, the pic was a bit of a shock tho, )
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here.
Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Was it the braces, Cazza?
Or the self-confessed "gormless" look?

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Ha! The gormless look, the braces, the tattoo above the eye, the dilated pupil and the ear-ring... it was a lot to take in all at once.
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here.

HaHa! He looks like a chap who's gone to have the op done privately and is now saying "`Ow much?!"

Tattoo?
( have you got your glasses on Cazza?)
Think he hasn't washed the surgeons arrow off which says "THIS eye".
