Col had a telephone consultation with the oncologist yesterday and the chemo has been very effective, shrinking the tumour to about 7mm and destroying any cancer in the surrounding lymph nodes. The operation will go ahead as planned, just waiting for a date now.

Still nursing a nasty bruise on my inner thigh after coming off my bike last Wednesday. It doesn’t bother me much - the worst bit is severe gravel rash to the elbows, which is healing, getting quite tight and dry, and I have to keep moisturising it. It catches on clothing and bed linen. ( I got up from my spill and rode another 14 kilometres after the injury, but my legs were like jelly afterwards).

After I fell off, in terrain that was like the Kokoda Trail, hubby and son rushed over and tried to pick me up of course. I knew I had hurt my leg, but I had to say “No...don’t touch me please”. I had to pick my leg off the bike myself with two hands. Then I let them stand me up and I declared I was ok and that it was just going to be a mother of a bruise. We were in the middle of nowhere, on a track so remote that it wasn’t on GPS. All I could do was push on. There was no other option, at least until we got to a sealed road.
Son had an emergency location Ap on his phone, but I declared myself “just bruised and scraped” so we pushed on toward our remote accommodation.
Would I do it again? You bet! We had a fantastic time!

I was commenting yesterday, whenever I go up a ladder Mrs P stands at the bottom with her phone in hand. I begin to wonder if its real purpose is to take a picture of me doing a nose dive and then WhatsApping it off to her pal for something to say. Sending for an ambulance MAY be a secondary consideration.

I insisted in holding the ladder for hubby today ( aged 71) who only needed a short climb to change the globe in our garage roller door control box thingy. I can’t bear to see him climb anywhere nowadays. Your wife was just taking all cares of you, Plaques.

I nearly sent you a warning last week about riding carefully when you said you would be cycling between various wineries...!

I swear to you, hand on heart, I was stone cold sober.
We had gone to a remote Beer Brewery. My adult son loves craft beers. We promised him he could indulge his passion whilst we were away. ( hubby had a “taster” set and we all enjoyed a lovely cheese platter, but I only drank Apple Juice - I don’t drink Beer). We sat there happily for a couple of hours, it was a beautiful setting.
The first thing I said when we got on the rugged trail was “thank god I didn’t have a glass of wine”, because I needed my wits on the rugged terrain. I found it really challenging. TOO challenging! I crashed!

One of my acquaintances at the sports centre is an avid mountain biker, old enough to know better, every now and again he disappears from the scene to explain he has been injured. The last time he fell off his bike in a wood, multiple cuts couldn't move, no internet. His pal carried him back to within ambulance range. God knows how many stitches he finished up with. Silly bugger is still at it.

I had a bruise like that when I was about 15yrs old.
Different circumstances.

Well, like Panbiker, I have sensory deficit in my right foot. When pedalling I constantly have to think where my foot is and what it is doing. Easy enough on the calm rides between wineries, but this track was rugged, steep, rutted and gravel. It was just a bit beyond me. Once on it, we were committed...and I think it was 8.5 kilometres to the nearest sealed road at that point.

Arnica is what you need Marilyn for bruising, brilliant stuff, always used it.

I'd swap the bike for a donkey if I were you, Maz! Much more reliable on mountain trails, which is why they use them to take people up and down the sides of the Grand Canyon.

Don’t think we could put 2 donkeys on our bike rack!
