Ah well, I'll spoil everything by adding that I have had another appointment letter, They're doing the Cystoscopy on Friday as well at 9AM so it will be a busy day. Mick and Susan are taking me to Stockport for a wander round my childhood on Thursday so they'll be fed up with me!

News of Ian? I'm not on Facebook any more.....
I think my GP must have me as a personal project! He's noted a slight alteration in my sodium levels in the last blood test and wants another one in a month. I'm not complaining, very efficient but the the thought does strike me, is this how it's going to be in the future?
Maz was right, I do worry about these things....... Funny thing is that I have never felt better!
I confirmed my appointment at Airedale on Friday and pointed out a possible problem of a clash between the two appointments. They withdrew and consulted and have brought the endoscopy appointment forward to 08:15 to give me time to refill my bladder! evidently this is important as Ultrasound informs me that if I turn up with it not full the appointment is cancelled and I will be taken out and shot like a dog..... Good job I asked......
Susan is a treasure, all my transport and Jack care sorted out.... Daughters are a Very Good Thing!

All preparations complete..... I even bought two bottles of water so I can refill my bladder between tests. I hated doing it but it is the best way out.....

The latest FB update on is that he's had all the staples removed from his wound and he's moved to a 'rehabilitation ward. He has a support on his 'dropped' foot to help him walk and physio is on going.

Not sure how much you'll hear from me this morning. It's an upset day and I shall be busy. Susan and Mick pick me up at 7:45. I shall be in the Endoscopy unit at 08:15 and the most intrusive test should be over fairly quickly. I shall report later.
By the way David, that large bag that you left full of goodies has proved to be just the thing for taking all the stuff I need at the hospital. Amazing how much room a dressing gown and slippers plus bottled water and all the other essential bits takes up. The bag is just the ticket!
I got my flu jab letter yesterday......

I'm back in the hutch and I've had my dinner. Jack is back in the fold and asleep in his chair so at last we can relax..... The ultrasound was fine, bladder and Kidneys not abnormal. The Cystoscopy was a bit less reassuring. I have a small 'growth' one centimetre across and they will have me back in less than 14 days to excise it and send it for analysis. I am not jumping to any conclusions and will carry on enjoying life! Onwards and upwards....

Not the best news Stanley, does excise mean removing the growth or taking a biopsy? They might let you home as soon as you can pee again after they have done the op.

It's so small they will cut it out Wendy and I'm expecting day surgery.
In bed at 21:00 last night and slept like a log. No pain at all in waterworks and yes, I am drinking a lot! They were quite interested when I told them I had had a cystoscopy over thirty years ago, before they were born I suspect..... Susan and Mick were great, kids come in so handy at times!

That all sounds positive Stanley, especially if you arent suffering any after effects from the cystoscopy.

No after effects at all thanks. A bit sensitive yesterday but I'm drinking a lot as per instructions and perfectly normal today. I watch and wait now for the return match when they actually cut it out and test it. I am not crossing any bridges until then!
I was a bit down on all these tests but am glad now that the show is on the road. If they hadn't nagged me I would never have known, I'm as fit as a butcher's dog considering the mileage.

The advances in surgical techniques something like this is considered a minor op nowadays, all will be good

"In and Out" Cystoscopies are generally well tolerated and not problematic.
It's the ones where they knock you out, remove tumours and leave a catheter in that cause a few more symptoms...because the bladder wall is irritated where the tumours have been removed and cauterised, and the catheter irritates the delicate lining of the Urethra. More problems trying to pee! Bladder spasms add to the woe! It can take a day or two to get control back. After 6 weeks the "scabs" from the cauterising can come away...there is only one way out...and they can block flow. ( not always but it depends on the size of the scabs. Hubby was totally blocked and had to have a further op to remove the scabs!)
I know...I know we apparently don't discuss men's issues!
