Very true, and everything seems to taste so much better! (Says she, tucking into a breakfast of full fat Greek Yoghurt, strawberries and blueberries topped with a spoonful of extra thick double cream...)

Sounds delicious but I'm still a porridge man, it's my carb fix for the day :-)

I think I would be sick if I ate that in the morning (or any other time).

"It's the easiest thing to reduce as everything else is so yummy and tasty"
I think that's the chief attraction. Full English as an approved food is my kind of nutrition!

It dawned on me yesterday as I was walking round Valley Gardens and breathing well that I have completely recovered from the chesty spell I had after I stupidly spent two days sharpening milling cutters without a mask. No doubt at all that it was grinding dust. I haven't made the same mistake since!

I'm feeling a bit airy-fairy this morning. Don't know why.... Could it be the election? Anyway I am going to have an easy day.... You can't be too careful!

It wasn't anything so manly as scrapping. I slipped in our fully tiled en-suite early on Monday morning and got a 3" cut above my left eye. Old men, little falls ...

So at 4 am we visited our local hospital to get stitched back together. Total cost was under £25 for 2 hospital visits, emergency treatment, antibiotics, tet jab etc. The tet jab nurses were laughing at my da picu (wide bottom) and commented how white and soft it was! I promised "wo mei fan pi" (I won't f-rt) which made them laugh again. Today it is much improved and I can just open my left eye again.

My almost-2 year old grand daughter in America told her neighbour "Grandpa hurt bad", she is very concerned.

Ouch indeed China. Were you on the way to the loo or coming back? Hopefully coming back, haha. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

What some people will do to get a bargain. Careful how you go monocular vision can be a bit tricky. Good to see you back on OG.

On the way back Cathy.
Plaques, I was in Hong Kong with my eldest daughter last week and unable to look in here. I'm much better today, my eye is open and I'm back to binocular vision. I'm wearing dark glasses when I venture out.
Marilyn, I got away with breaking the washing machine machine.

My sister-in-law ended up with an eye looking like that recently but it wasn't an accident. She paid for it. She'd started to suffer from a badly drooping eyelid and had to have surgery which left her like that for a while. Although it affected her vision the NHS judged it to be `cosmetic', which is why she had to pay - and it was a lot more than £25!

Drooping eyelids.... I think they might run in families, one of the 'distinguishing marks' on my Dad's old passport is "droop. Left eyelid" and I have the same. Problem is that's my good eye! I have to consciously raise it when doing fine work.....

I seem to be fully recovered from my little local difficulty on Friday. I was much reassured by Wendy's comment in another post saying that she doubted it was blood sugar related. I respect her experience and opinion on these matters and up to date all her advice has been excellent. I like this because it harks back to the way I was reared, we listened to our elders and peers and took their advice before rushing to the doctors. It may be old-fashioned but a bit more of this common sense could be a good thing today and relieve some of the strain on medical services.....

Just to be sure Stanley, next time it happens let me or Kev pop round with a blood test meter to check your glucose levels. It's only a tiny pinprick on your finger and won't take more than a minute!

I know that what I am about to say is a bit out there, but somewhere in the last six months I read that those who eat the same veg day after day, which are sourced FROM THE SAME AREA can build up toxic levels of some chemicals or nutrients. This can make you feel a bit off. It is generally self correcting, as the sufferer naturally becomes sick of a certain food, and fancies other vegetables as a change. I seem to recall it related to green leafy veg...

I'll bear that in mind Wendy...... Maz, if anything I had eaten less veggies last week. It's some sort of glitch as I say and I am fine now so I am not going to let it disturb my life.
Just out of curiosity, where can I get a meter? And do you have any advice?
