OGFB Finances 2016

Post by Pluggy »

OGFB Donations 2016.

That time of year again Folks.

Carried over from 2015 £99.32
Income for 2015-2016 Tax year £159.32
Expenses in same period £219.02

Left in Kitty at end of Tax year £39.62

The figures this year include Stanley's 80th Birthday present which was a zero sum exercise, donations = expenditure.

I'm taking whats left in the kitty this year and starting at Zero. I figure running the site is worth £20 a year.

I was lenient last year and income was short of expenditure, so this year I will maybe have to rattle the tin a bit more.

Donation button is at the top right of each page for Paypal & Card donations.

Cash & Cheques made to Stephen Taylforth to 1 Clough Terr, Banoldswick, BB18 5PD. Please mark "For OGFB" If I do computer work for you (Barlick computer in my Signature), you can make a donation then too.

So I'm rattling the tin.

Next scheduled costs are due early June

Thank you in advance.

Stephen T.

Thanks for the heads up Pluggy./ I have chucked a donation into the pot. Cheap at half the price! By the way I have no objection whatsoever to you taking any surplus as expenses. Thanks for all you do for us.....

Don't tell them about the funds stashed in the British Virgin Islands, Pluggy! :laugh5:

Seriously though, thanks for all the work you do to keep OG afloat and for putting the details on screen.

All received and a couple of others besides.

Unless we hit unforeseen expenses (site breakdown). We should be good until half way through the tax year.

Thank you.

Keep this thread on the board by bumping..... Could it be made sticky and always head the Active Topics?

I'm not a fan of stickies, Stanley. People soon learn to ignore them.

It cant be done as a sticky anyway, Active Topics is not a forum in its own right. Sticky function in the editor only allows pinning to a specific forum. We could turn it into an announcement which would have a similar effect but I agree with Stephen on this one.

I have been thinking about this and It might be an idea to put together an announcement post regarding how the site is donation funded. The Donation area itself is no use for this as it is only viewable by existing donors. We would need to make it available to all who visit

An announcement would appear alongside the existing two that we have, "Browsing Options for the Site" and "New Menbers Read me First" these threads are automatically placed above every forum section on the site and are viewable by everyone who visits the site, members and guests. They act a bit like stickies but are not quite the same. The two existing announcements have 33,500 and 58,900 hits or thereabouts, a lot of these will be spiders and bot hits but they will also be read by visitors and members.

No harm in reminding people we are self funded.

Half way through the tax year report :

New start this year, nothing carried over:
Income from donations. £262.82
Expenditure (just ISP charges) £71.92

We're £190.90 up. Barring repairs, were good until the end of the tax year. (You can take a payment holiday on me, which is bound to get Stanley's goat ;) )

Thank you for your generosity.
