Same as my experience Kev. I think we might be on the right lines and that's more than the 'official advice'. I wonder if anyone is taking notice?

Turning out to be an expensive hobby this losing weight malarkey. New dinner suit and dress shirt yesterday along with some jeans and t-shirts. Anyone interested in my old dinner suit and dress shirt, it's a bit big for me now :-).

If anyone is interested (you never know) the jacket will fit a 56" chest , it's a long fitting too I'm 6ft 7in tall. The trousers are a 44" waist with a 34" inside leg, all the usual adjustments within the waistband, dress shirt has a 21" collar with adjustable cuffs to fit orang-utan arms. It's only been worn for special occasions, obviously, just ask if you want more details.

Apologies if I've broken any advertising rules :-)

No rules broken there.... I jumped on the scales yesterday and got a yellow card, I have been a bit lax. Nothing serious but you have to keep an eye on it!
That suit will be a bit too big for me.....

Just been smiling at some of these posts.
A few years ago I went to my GP because I had a numb thigh and tingling in my fingers. I thought I'd had a mini stroke! After I'd "hopped on the scale" the sarcastic devil told me that my weight was just about right...if I had been a 6'2" male! He was apparently a reformed over eater and like that with everyone. People only went to him if they wanted to be seen quickly, otherwise they'd see one of the other doctors in the practice. He was so unpopular!
I stick to the 5/2 diet which does the trick. I lost weight and haven't put it back thank goodness. My arms look like a couple of empty polythene bags though!

I once had a similar experience Rossy with a reformed pipe smoker! They are the worst evangelists of the lot!
Tell me about the Bingo Wings..... I have them as well now, my skin hasn't got the message that I've shrunk! But looking at my blood analysis it's a small price to pay....

I have kept up with the 5:2 for a while now...could be three years, I've lost track of time. I cant say I fast properly, but I have two "minimal eating" days which I enjoy and it has helped keep my weight fairly stable. I've dropped a few more pounds by joining Col on his low carb regime and am now comfortably below 9st. What has surprised me is that the weight I have lost recently has gone from around my middle, and I have discovered a waist that hasn't been spotted for 30 years!

I'm feeling guilty at the moment because I have slipped back a little and gained 4lbs. Par for the course, it's happened before, I enjoy my food and cooking it too much! Action this day!! (Especially after watching the Horizon programme last night on the genetic causes of obesity......)

There is some justice.

I always had my doubts about the steak pudding, oven bottom and St Augur diet.

I know Stanley doesn't count calories but just for the record, an average oven bottom is 180 calories a go, St. Augur is 100 calories for 30g. Steak Pudding that I have just had, 345 calories.

Weight will be back down to target very quickly David. I shall simply stop the peanut butter butties! I can still roam at will in what was the Forbidden Zone in my wardrobe....

A little experiment at work yesterday, I ate a chocolate topped flapjack (70% carbohydrate of which 35% was sugar) and checked my blood glucose levels every 30 minutes for 2 hours. Before Christmas I would be reading in the high 'teens' in less than an hour but yesterday peaked at 8.2 after an hour and was back under 6 after 2 hours. This was without any physical activity so I'm very pleased by that. I am still taking Metformin and Gliclazide but a reduced dosage, perhaps type 2 is reversible, we'll see in 6 months after another review :-)

The evidence is that Type 2 is reversible Kev and that the key is the amount of fat on the surface of the pancreas. Of course, to get rid of that you have to reduce your internal fat overall and that comes with an overall loss of weight. Like you, I reduced the Metformin from 4 to 3 a day off my own bat. I feel fine!

I'm happy to say I didn't even though I thought I would. Another side effect of weight loss keeps bugging me is the lower blood pressure, I have to remember to stand up slowly or my BP drops and I go dizzy...

We have stopped tracking calories with MyFitnessPal. Couldn't do it very well when we were on holiday and not bothered with it since. We both know the deal and reckon we won't balloon without it. For myself I am quite happy that I have lost a few pounds, nothing drastic or immediate so I don't think related to what is going on up in my head. Might alter with what treatment regime the Leeds team deem necessary.

See THIS for the latest 'Holy Grail' weight loss pill. I don't know about you but I don't believe anything in life is that easy. At about $200 a month it looks to me to be a very expensive and chancy miracle.....
