The DIY Xmas lights over Wellhouse Street have shifted up a gear, the star is flashing now!
Pioneer car park is rammed full of cars during the day. We approach the crescendo of shopping this week and the weekend. No doubt the retailers are hoping for a late surge in shopping. You'd think that in view of the short time available for delivery online shopping would be falling off.

Apparently it has fallen off, but more to do with the general fall in retail activity.

Maz, thanks for your Christmas greetings.
Here's wishing a Merry Christmas to all on OGFB from Tizer & Mrs Tiz...

I like it Liz! Margaret said they'd had 44C in Perth a few days ago and today's the longest day for them, shortest for us of course so it's the old Pagan festival of Yule. So a happy Yule tide to everyone.
I ordered some tobacco from Aston's yesterday and it's coming by Post Office Recorded Mail, I'll bet it comes today as it is from Manchester.

Supermarket packed again this morning (just after 08.30am)!
That's us done. Won't need to go near the shops again before Christmas.

Tobacco arrived. Met Santa at the bus stop (Susan on her way to work) and gave her Tomblands. In return she gave me a small but perfectly formed Christmas cake and a snowman made out of Wensleydale cheese to go with it. Then veggie shopping for Xmas. Like Maz, I think that's it!
Co-op and town packed. I'm doing my last load of washing before Xmas as well.
Later.... I saw two identically dressed Xmas Elves in the rain presumably making their way home after a night shift in the Xmas factory..... (or a Xmas party!)

Delightful!
Santa is wearing the beard a little high, but I am sure it will settle while jogging in the rain...

Please note that Santa was wearing full waterproof gear underneath her Santa Suit. (No goose fat though....)

I saw a streak of light in the sky early this morning. Could it have been Santa going about his business? He came early to 10 East Hill Street!

The aftermath today. Now is the time when the bills start dropping though the letterbox..... Deep Joy!
Remember the emitters are still working at full blast, now it's what used to be the January Sales and holiday offers. Going by pre-Xmas discounts there could be some real bargains out there but very little profit for the retailers. Stock shifting is the name of the game now!

A lot of stuff at M&S online is 30-50% off. It'll be interesting to see if makes any difference to the low sales. It certainly will make a difference to profits.

The High Street is only one evidence of the malaise which is poised in the wings to strike globally. We live in dangerous financial times.....

The DIY reindeer over Wellhouse Street have died..... The star is still operating but reminds us that Xmas is over for another year.

No lights this morning apart from a veiled crescent moon but I had the bonus of a skein of geese passing over in the dark. Lovely!

I note that over the last two days all the major emitters have been switched off. Only a few Xmas trees on individual shops are left illuminated.

I still have my Christmas decorations on display, I left them out because I wanted some twinkly lights on for new years eve, then forgot to put them on (duh!), but its time for a good dust so will be putting them away very soon.

We didn't bother putting any up. It was a nice 'normal' atmosphere for my youngest grandson, Christmas is too stimulating for a young lad with autism.

Perhaps that's the reason why I don't like them and never put them up Kev. I remember as a lad that the house looked so sad and bare when the Xmas decorations came down.... Back to the real world!
