Happy Birthday Stanley

Post by Tripps »

Hello Stanley and a happy birthday to you for tomorrow - the 14th'

I know you don't like us to make a fuss, I think we've only had the two reminders  , but it needs marking. I think it's a good time to thank you for the enormous contribution you make to keep us informed and amused on the site.

It's the Big Mac's birthday too but he's only fifty, so this card is very suitable. Happy Birthday

May there be many more.

I always remember your birthday Stanley, it was my Dads. So Happy Birthday for the 14 Th. Have a good day

Sadly it was also the day my Dad died, so it will be a visit to the cemetery at Burnley tomorrow despite the weather. I always take some roses and being Valentines day they always cost more than the other visits through the year :laugh5: The flower man outside the cemetery is always very apologetic about the cost!
If you keep searching you will find it

Just noticed the typo in the title.

Thanks love, I shall do my best. Just bought myself a birthday present, a sound bar for my TV to improve my comprehension of what's actually going on!

A good present to yourself. The standard speakers in flat screen TVs are not very good.

Happy Birthday :good: :good: :good: :good:

Thanks Kev! I bought a Samsung sound bar from Curry's on Comrade Nolic's recommendation, he says Jack's is as good as his Bose and it was only £99 but I paid extra for timed delivery tomorrow. I hate waiting for couriers!

We gave our sound bar away to my son. We didn't find it that thrilling.

I've heard a few and they all make a massive difference. I have stuck with my 10 year old Sony 5.1 system, if it ever packs up I would go for a sound bar and sub set up.

Happy birthday, Stanley. I thought you was waiting for Valentine's cards not for birthday cards. Trust you got plenty of those as well?

What a good idea. I didn't know these things existed. The sound quality from my wall mounted flat screen TV in my lounge is rubbish. Because it is a big room we sit a fair distance from the TV and we have the volume on loud, which doesn't improve the sound quality, and many times I thought I would have to take the plunge and invest in a surround sound system with speakers at the rear of my lounge, something I didn't want. It's OK having flat screen TV but there is no room for good speakers. These look to be a perfect solution. I'll investigate and order after Chinese New Year when China reopens! [Friday is Chinese New Year - Year of the dog - my year, so is it OK for me to buy myself a present?]

Happy Birthday, Stanley, or what's left of it! I didn't get a chance to use the computer today until now. Some unexpected events from an early phone call. Nothing to worry about, just workmen re-arranging times and making our day a lot more hectic than we'd expected! I'm glad you got your Birthday sound bar - now you'll be able to hear the whisperers on the TV! :music:

Our TV has great sound and seems to come from all directions. (Our TV is on the wall) Somehow, the sound bar wasn't as good...we kept turning it off and on and eventually came to the conclusion the TV was better. Then I got sick of dusting the sound bar (they do get dusty) and suggested we remove it. Son was happy to relieve us of it. We had a sub-woofer-thingy too and he took that as well. Upstairs, we have a TV on the wall with 4 speakers and a sub-woofer-thingy...dust collectors really.
Im not one to be sat watching TV for hours on end anyway. I've got better things to do.
