I was listening to that driving over to Leeds. I remember Joan Baez singing Joe Hill

Last time we spoke about Joe Hill, I looked him up and decided he probably did do the murder. I seem to remember that you (SCG) didn't totally disagree?
I've looked again to refresh my memory, and decided he probably didn't. Not sure what to make of that. Someone has got at google?

This is rather poignant....

My will is easy to decide,
For there is nothing to divide.
My kin don't need to fuss and moan -
"Moss does not cling to a rolling stone.
My body? - Oh! - If I could choose,
I would to ashes it reduce,
And let the merry breezes blow
My dust to where some flowers grow.
Perhaps some fading flower then
Would come to life and bloom again.
This is my last and final will.
Good luck to all of you.

Paul Robeson's voice is a bit too low for my taste, but I like this track Bit hard to watch though..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4h0_JGO2PtQ

The best historical account of the Joe Hill affair I have found is in Dubovsky's 'We Shall be All', the story of the Industrial Workers of the World, also known as the Wobblies. Here's a LINK to it on Bookfinder. Not dear and it's a good, well researched read.

Bradders is alive and well on Facebook

Enjoy "the grandfather of grunge" Windy. Ticketmaster only has standing or silly price tickets left. I'll make do with him on MP3. Nolic

Col said there were seats still available last night Nolic. We didn't book as we are waiting to hear back from friends who might like to go, so I hope we haven't left it too late!
We noticed a while back when we booked to see CS&N that ticket availability seems to come and go in strange ways.

Had a look on seatfinder and there were tickets left. Mentioned it to wife and response was "No thank you.....but Michael Buble is on in London in July!!!". I think I'll let the matter drop. Nolic

Despite the disappointment caused by the cancellation of the Neil Young tour we are going to see a few more live bands locally.
Thanks to Postman Pete for letting me know he was on, I have tickets to see Graham Nash talking about his life at the Ilkley Literature Festival in October.
We are going a bit folky with Bellowhead in Blackburn in November, in December it's The Strawbs at Clitheroe Grand and Lindisfarne at the Royal Hall in Harrogate.
A bit unsure whether to book for Jefferson Starship at the Clitheroe Grand in January ...Jefferson Airplane were one of Col's favourites from the early seventies and it's close to his big birthday but mmmm, can't decide.

Doesn't quite read right for a massive West Coast band from the 60's.... are they ready for Clitheroe? Nolic

When in Rome do as the Romans, and when in Ramsbottom ......

£23 quid a day for visiting Ramsbottom? You've got to be joking. Or do they pay you?

My point exactly Nolic! I think that's why Col isn't bothered about going...doesn't want to see how the mighty have fallen

I will be at that one too Wendy....!
I honestly believe that there isn't a better or more entertaining live band around at the moment. You are in for a real treat

I suppose if they can have the crown jewels in Clitheroe then maybe they can have Jefferson starship!

Cindy Lauper helped to host one of our morning tv shows last week, she was wearing tight black and white patterned pants, boots, lots of black layers on top, quite a bit of make-up (not goth), and her wig was almost waist length and two-tone bright pink, oh and lots of big jewellery... she looked great!!

Oh girls just wanna have f hun, yeah girls just wanna have fun...

Can you top that Maz?? :)
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here. :)

I couldn't top that Cazza, cos (as you have no doubt heard), I cannot sing or hold a tune! ( although I sing happily to myself when no one is home).
Cyndi was FANTASTIC. Really enjoyed ourselves.
Some strange looking folk in the audience though...

That's side-stepping the question Maz, I think Caz was asking if you could top: "..tight black and white patterned pants, boots, lots of black layers on top, quite a bit of make-up (not goth), and her wig was almost waist length and two-tone bright pink, oh and lots of big jewellery.."
