Must be watching too much racing from Cheltenham. I fell at the last fence.

I got vowels equals 30 then (mysteriously) decided that consonants were 100.

There was a time when that wouldn't have happened.

Tripps, I cannot fault your argument in that Stern is an artist but which Stern do you mean? The majority are very new or less well known artists. #2 anagram has a long list of known paintings and besides its the one given in the card answers. I'll put it to the stewards if you like.

China has the full answer but we await the stewards inquiry on whether Tripps was correct in offering up novice rider in a Gold Plate race.
I've nominated Wendy as our resident art expert Ref On 'Hans Holbein,23 june 2013. A good game for learning your old masters is on the "Free Rice" website. I love the word game, but you can also earn a few grains of rice by guessing the artist...

Can you name the song artist(s) from these one line extracts. All golden oldies with the odd compilers privilege thrown in.
No prizes, you're on your own.

1 Girls will be boys and boys will be girls
2 And embellished with a curious tattoo.
3 Put your hand in mine.
4 She took my silver spurs, a dollar and a dime
5 I've just found me a brand new box of matches
6 Oh mother tell your children
7 We smile at one another and say.
8 My girlfriend's run off with my car.
9 The end of my hopes, the end of all my dreams
10 Are you lonely like me
11 The lights are much brighter there.
12 But its too late to say your sorry.
13 Lloyds of London will be loaded when we go.
14 There's an old piano and they play it hot
15 Go play your hand you big-talkin' man, make a big fool of yourself,
16 So before they come to break down the door
17 Who tells me baby, better come back, maybe next week.
18 From Soho down to Brighton I must have played them all.
19 Take a sad song and make it better
20 I bought you a brand new Mustang, About nineteen sixty five.

Apologies , Number 3 should read Then put your little hand in mine.

As far as I can see this leaves 2, 3, 8, 10, 20,

#2, is one of my odd ball choices but Gloria's last suggestion in mystery objects is a good clue.
