You all obviously know what it is. Kev is right, it's one of the blades from my super Swiss Army Knife that Big Harry gave me. This one combines a ruler, a forked end for unhooking a fish and a serrated de-scaler for fish.



Fully loaded, even the case! Everything necessary for survival.

All right, it's an old fashioned pair of spectacles but there is something special about these. Can anyone tell me what it is?

Obviously designed for someone whose right ear is upside down.

Or perhaps needs to wear them inside a gas mask?

Tiz got there first Cathy and then David enlarged on it. (The appearance of one leg being upside down is an optical illusion David, it puzzled me as well) They are army issue glasses and the flat sides ensure no leakage when wearing a gas mask.

I think I deserve 1/2 a point.

John Lennon was in a 'not very good ' movie called How I Won The War (an anti-war black comedy) and as part of his actors kit , he was given a pair of National Health Service type, round, wire-framed glasses to wear.
He rather liked the shape, they suited him and he wore that style happily for the rest of his life.
A new fashion in granny glasses was born..haha.

You've got your half-point Cathy and I think you get the other half of it for your explanation!

I think I was prompted to suggest Army because I recently watched a Dad's Army episode and they were putting on gas masks and Captain Mainwaring was getting his glasses all in a twist. But I've also seen photos of Stanley in his Army uniform with glasses like that.

Maybe ww2 vintage, but the ROC posts has then as well. (up to the Stand down in 1990ish).

I have to agree, it's definitely a siren.....

I guessed that mystery object wouldn't last for long but thought it was worth putting up. It's my own photo of the one at the Coldharbour Mill Museum, Cullompton, Devon in their `Mill at War' exhibit. LINK I believe it's a WW2 Carter air raid siren.

Let's try this mystery object - can you tell me what it is and where it is?

Well it's a bridge cunningly constructed from chairs although I think I see a metal support structure. As to where, absolutely no idea, best guess some Antiques Roadshow venue?

That's the easy bit done - thanks Ian! Now the hard bit - where do you think it might be? As far as I know it hasn't been in an Antiques Roadshow. It's not in the Barlick or Taunton area.

I thought at first it might be a mock up in the design of a coat of arms for Mrs Rees Mogg - her full name being "Helena Anne Beatrix Wentworth Fitzwilliam de Chair "
