Both Gloria and BigKev are on turbo charge Lots of images on google

First went to the Medievil Banquet Banquet years ago. My pal and his wife were promoted to Lord and Lady. A big mistake on their part, a raving dipsomaniac with a throat like a sink. Must have cost them a fortune for the free booze.

Thanks for the link. Brings back some memories. Mrs Tripps was a nurse at Blyth, and they had a staff outing to Seaton Delaval Hall for one of their medieval banquets. She wasn't much of a drinker anyway, and didn't know that mead was alcoholic. She was quite giggly when they brought her home. :laugh5:

Not a mystery object as such but a curiosity. The Walls of Jericho were only one strange name in that part of Bradford. The wider area was called Egypt and there was a row of houses called Botany Bay. If we had any casualty beasts at Yew Tree that had to be slaughtered they always went to Jerusalem Farm in the same area. So Egypt, Jericho, Jerusalem and Botany Bay all in the same area. It would make a good pub quiz question....

Here in Taunton we have an area near the town centre that is known as Tangier. Tradition states that Tangier is named after the Tangier Regiment, employed to round up Monmouth’s rebels in 1685. They were billeted or encamped in this area of Taunton. A late 17th century inn in the area was also called Tangier. The regiment got it's name from it's time in North Africa in the mid-1600s. Wikipedia: `The Tangier Garrison was the land force which oversaw the defence of English Tangier between 1661 and 1684 when it was evacuated. It was part of the English Army, the de facto standing army that Charles II established following the Restoration. Charles II received Tangier as part of the Marriage Treaty with Portugal in 1661. He appointed Henry Mordaunt, 2nd Earl of Peterborough as governor and, on 30 January 1662, the new garrison took up its duties.'

The name Jericho was sometimes used to denote a distant place, as we nowadays would say Timbuktu. In Oxford's case, the Jericho area was outside the city walls.
