is it the end of a large streamer (christmas dec) ???? or one of those things which opened out into a ball (christmas dec)????

Those tabs in the apertures look as though they have to engage in lugs on whatever goes with it. Some sort of storage?

Both Stanley and Gloria are right about it being a storage box lid; one of my clues should help you win gold in finding out what was in it.

Knowing your penchant for filling your pantry with bargains it could be a bumper pack of Gold Blend Coffee. But I still have a sneaking feeling it held a Superman outfit used for flying over Barlick in search of potholes. Bet you daren't wear it at the next Council meeting.

The box is made out of MDF and is slotted together without any glue. It's very sturdy; very well designed.

It's still in use for storing our citrus fruit.
