Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
I thought you would, let's see if anyone else has a crack at them..... (It's very hard finding these 'mysteries'!)

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Man size 'Slinky' springs. Slinky.. I know they're not but it was a fascinating toy.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
I reckon I know as well.
They make poor imitations of real Slinky's out of plastic now, not enough weight to make them walk properly.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
I'm sure I should know what they are - but can't recall where I've seen them! They look like they're used for their flexibility rather than springiness.

For cleaning drains?
Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
They remind me of washing machine water outlet pipes, but obviously not long enough.
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here.
Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
I'll go with Kev's pipe bending springs.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
That's what they are, solid springs that you insert in the bore of a pipe before bending it. They stop the walls of the pipe collapsing and if you give the loop in the end a slight turn in a clockwise direction it lessens the diameter of the spring slightly to aid withdrawal. Different sizes for different bores of pipe. Used with a pipe bending machine they enable you to get almost perfect bends.
Incidentally, my mate and I once had to bend a 12" diameter pipe for use in a steam main. We filled it with sand and sealed it to support the walls then bent it with block and tackle while heating it red hot with big oxy-acetylene rose burners. Exciting stuff!
Next for shaving?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
No idea, but I'll hazard a guess. Is it for knocking the head of something in / flat?

No Gloria it's more a precision tool but not for measuring.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
It looks like a punch for rounding the heads of rivets but you have already dismissed that. Hardly a precision tool either.
