Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
No but you are both in the right area. It has a very specific use.
There is a clue in the picture.

It would be handy for pressing keypads when shopping to avoid the virus. Could be a stone age plastic arrow head. Scraping excess makeup off after a night out, I give in.
Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Chestnut peeler? Does it clip on the thumb?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
I've got to give it to Gloria. It is spoon shaped and is for scooping out the chestnuts, but the other side has a small serrated edge that I'm guessing is for removing the skins. It came with the chestnuts. We get free skin peelers/cutters, like Maz and Stanley suggested, but they are different.
Actually Gloria may be right, it could be spoon-shaped to accommodate the thumb and just a skin peeler and not a scoop.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
I have a widget just for that, also useful for pulling open doors Now, just for fun, what's the '2000' for that's also on my key ring?

A crown cork bottle opener in the days before cans. Or a thingy for taking stones out of horses hoofs?

If you carry that in your trouser pocket I'll bet it wears them out quickly!

Looks like a plumber's mat for protecting surrounding stuff when soldering pipe joints.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Hee hee. All good responses but Wendy sneaked up on all of you , it's a new wick for a brooder lamp with a big burner. I once bought a fist-full for the Ellenroad Engine.
Here's the crosshead. If you follow the pipe from the lubricator you'll see it goes to a circular object hanging in the track of the crosshead. This is a piece of thick wick like our mystery object. The hole for the lubrication of the crosshead bearing had a cup with a flat plate mounted on the top which brushed the wick each time it passed it. As it did it picked up a drop of oil which drained into the cup below and from there into the crosshead pin. You needed to know that!
Next object please....
