We listened to the five 15-minute episodes of `Blowing the Bloody Doors Off' on Radio 4, Michael Cain telling his own life story. Lovely to listen to that voice! He related how he once phoned Peter Sellers and got his answerphone message which mimicked Cain and said something like `This is Michael Cain speaking. I'm sorry I can't come to the phone at the moment. Not many people know that.' It was fun to hear Cain mimicking Sellers mimicking Cain. LINK

We watched the programme about the latest restoration of the Big Ben tower at Westminster. Fascinating stuff. The foundry was great! LINK

I watched 'Millionaire last night - outstanding contestant from Cambridge. I was shouting '1911' at the screen for her last question - what a shame.

It's easy to confuse 1901 and 1911 - what a shame!

I watched 'Revenant' on play back last night. Nit a cuddly film but very well done. What I want to know is how they filmed the bear attack! It was totally realistic.
I looked up the meaning of revenant.... "In folklore, a revenant is a visible ghost or animated corpse that is believed to have revived from death to haunt the living. The word revenant is derived from the Old French word, revenant, the "returning" (see also the related French verb revenir, meaning "to come back").".

I don't know if my Freesat box chucked a wobbler against the level of ultraviolence being streamed through it last night. It decided to freeze completely towards the end of Conan the Barbarian just as the bad guy was getting his comuppence! Picture frozen, sound still streaming, no buttons working on the box and no response to the remote control, standby button not working. I had to resort to a power down at the mains socket followed by a reboot which sorted it out. Will have to keep my eye on that. Anyway, I assume from the audio that Conan (Jason Mamoa) won and it sounded like he got the girl as well.

I just caught the end of Celebrity Chase.

The celebs lost, but were given £1000 each for their charity. Asked to name the charity the multi millionaire Deborah Meaden nominated 'Care - particularly Lend with Care'.

I'm familiar with this charity - you don't give people money - you lend it then they pay it back to you. Very shrewd Deborah.

My Humax box did something new last night. It asked me if I would like the box to report my use and stations back to base to 'improve my experience'. I said no! Quite enough to have Google recording any visits to porn sites......

My Humax box was playing up a few weeks ago (same symptoms as yours Ian), it looked to be a failed update and I did a factory reset on it. It's been OK since.

Shall we compare software versions?

Mine is: UKSFAA 3.00.96, it states the last update as being 13 August 2018

Mine too. It must have been channel updates rather than the underlying software. I've noticed a few of the channels have moved, particularly the +1 channels.

We watched the BBC adaptation of The ABC Murders yesterday. I liked John Malkovich's portrayal of Hercule Poirot, very deep.

Lost the signal to tuner 2 in the satellite box last night. A bit of investigation identified the coax pulling out of the f plug. The box is on top of a 6ft tall bookcase so there's a fair amount of cable hanging on the plug. Replaced both plugs and supported the weight of the cable with a loop in it and a cup hook in the back of the bookshelf. Hopefully that'll fettle it :-)

I'm enjoying a Ronnie O'Sullivan fest at the moment. Today he's in the final of the Masters against Judd Trump at 14:00. Guess where I will be!

We had a sad day..... Judd Trump overwhelmed Ronnie and won the Masters 10-4. A period of deep mourning is indicated.

Not to worry Stanley it comes to them all eventually. In another theatre, Rodger Federer was knocked out of the Australian Open by a much lower seed. Even sportsmen and women get older and fall to the young bucks, t'was ever so, don't vex too much, it's only a game.

I always remember when Sebbie Ballasteros announced he was retiring from the main tour and going over to the Veteran's events he was asked why. He said he had seen these flat bellies driving the ball further than him and had got the message!
Gave up on Les Mis last night half way through. Too much 'miserable' for me. I want to be diverted not depressed. I don't care if it is great literature!

Tripps, I know you're a horse racing fan and you'll be familiar with camel racing in the Middle East but have a look at this `Wild Arabia' episode and the first part on their modern version of camel racing. It could give some ideas for spicing up horse racing! LINK
