All sorted, the Powerline adapters weren't communicating with each other so the Freesat box had no ethernet connectivity. The smart TV was connecting OK via its wifi.

I had made the assumption that the Powerline was OK because the TV was still connected. I hadn't realised that the TV is working on wifi because the Humax box can't get the signal. I had fallen into the trap of making a wrong assumption. All's well now and better than ever because whilst I had view early programmes before I had never fully activated on demand so now I have the full monty including 'watch from Start'. Thanks Kev.....

Perhaps someone can tell me, Since Powerlines are always plugged into the power circuit line they are technically always connected but if you switch the electricity off at the fuse box then the line connection is broken and you have to to reconnect via the router password or the 'reset' buttons. Is this assumption correct?

Most, I won't say all, powerline adapters are 'plug and play'. If there's a power outage they will automatically reconnect.

You won't need to "reconnect via the router password" as it's a wired connection, your home router will only prompt for a password for a wi-fi connection.

Kev told me they can sometimes drop out of synch and the cure is to switch both plugs off, switch on the one accepting the router signal and then do the same with the output end. They automatically re-establish contact which is what would happen if there was a power outage I suspect.

A reasonably standard rule for most IT related issues, turn it off and back on again. It's kept me employed for the last 13 years :laugh5:

My TV issues are usually Stanley related! As I said to Kev the other day, there are certain areas where I am incompetent and it doewsn't worry me at all, I just get hold of my mates! If you treat people well they usually return the favour. This policy has served me well.

Watched Wilkie Collins' 'Woman in White' last night. Not exactly my period but I have to admit it's a very polished production. Makes crap schedule fillers like 'The Button' look tawdry.

Did any of you hear the programme 'Secrets' TX at 09:30 this morning. 15 minutes and riveting, I highly recommend you go to iPlayer and have a listen! It will ring bells with the genealogists among you.

I'm enjoying the snooker at the Crucible. The old players who do the commentary are a big attraction, you can learn a lot about snooker listening to them!

I think Wendy might agree with me in that the Azerbaijan GP was the most entertaining race of the season, it had everything!
I had a sleep today and then watched it. Now for the snooker......

Yes I do agree, nail biting stuff! Thank heavens that the drivers can walk away from nasty smashes without a scratch these days. I'm always pleased when Vettel gets beaten, especially by Hamilton! Poor Bottas though, that was real bad luck.

Agreed and as for the Red Bull drivers taking each other out so late in the race..... I have a feeling that Riccardo will be having some interesting moments with the management and Verstappen isn't entirely without blame. They were on the verge of colliding right through the race. It was very entertaining! Nice that Lewis remembered Valteri when he had won.....

I watched the latest two episodes of 'The Woman in White' and am still entranced by the production values, photography and casting but my God! it's a dark and uncomfortable story! I shall persevere but it's not a happy story..... Perhaps that's the point.....

I like Vettel Wendy, I find Hamilton rather arrogant, but I suppose that's the character of the game that makes him win what he does.

I know it isn't everyone's cup of tea but the BBC coverage of the snooker at the Crucible is splendid. (I have a fairly low key opinion of Wimbledon so it levels out!)
