Fascinating I would say, "Brain Surgeons". I have a vested interest of course but an excellent program. I recorded the the first episode and watched it last night. Surgery over 48 hours to take a deeply embedded tumour from a 12 year old lads brain. It was attached centrally and they had to make a 1cm wide tunnel 10cm deep to get to the tumour. Next weeks episode shows a couple of people having surgery whilst awake.

Knowing Ian's background in TV sets I thought he'd enjoy this story which appeared while OG was `off air'...

Indeed, on the other side of the coin regarding broadband causing interference. It's a pity Open Reach and Offcom will not do anything about the level of noise produced by ADSL and VDSL broadband installations that interfere with the amateur bands! Amateur radio licensees have primary allocations on a lot of the bands that they use but have been fighting for years to get Offcom and Open Reach to up their game and do anything about it. The noise associated with using the copper network for VDSL can sometimes make the bands totally unusable.

As an aside to the TV affecting broadband and :ot:
I worked with someone whose wifi dropped out when he run the taps in his house, after many months of investigation turned out it was the cable to the water pump in the well. The cable length was altered, which changed the frequency, and all was good.

I know the origin of the term because PE reviewed the film and told the secret...
If you like the sea and in particular the clipper ships rounding Cape Horn, look at THIS, a wonderful hour long film brilliantly shot in 1929 of the nitrate clipper Peking See THIS for more information..

We watched that as well.

Time shifted Brain Surgeons, this covered two craniotomies where both patients were awake during surgery. They didn't mention what kind of tumours the patients had but the second one was very similar to my Meningioma. Sitting on the motor cortex and producing similar symptoms that I had. Seizures down the arm for the patient featured, mine were full right side. They kept them awake and they had a Clinical Neurologist with them during the operation checking them for cognitive responses and motor functions during the operation.

I watched most of Honour. I now see it being described as a 'drama'. I considered I was watching a documentary not a 'drama' .. I don't usually watch 'dramas' /

It was shocking both from the point of view of the victim and her family, and the Police response - both over a long period. The family seemed to think that their behaviour was quite normal to deal with the situation. Good work eventually by the Police. No mention of how long 'life' sentences actually amounted to. Another programme earlier, 'The Sheriffs are Coming' showed this same community in a less evil, but similar bad light. Unusual that two such were broadcast I'd say.

That was followed by part one of the Harold Shipman saga. (part two tonight). I've read a book about that and remain astonished that no one tumbled to it sooner what he was up to. It's said the taxi drivers in Hyde had a good idea of what was going on.

Radio actually. Today's Woman's Hour is the last one Jenni Murray will present, she is retiring. I have enjoyed listening to her and her smoker's cough for years, I shall be listening this morning!

I watched both episodes of Honour last night. You were right Gloria, an interesting and well presented story that flagged up a bigger story of cultural difference.

So murdering a family member with full cooperation of the rest of the family is just a 'cultural difference' ? I think that's taking political correctness a bit too far.

Good to see the BBC iPlayer restored to Humax. It's been unavailable since 29th September. Bad news is YouTube is now unavailable, I'll have to plug the laptop into the TV for the Phantom of the Opera streaming over the weekend.
