I didn't stay up to watch the end of the session yesterday in the snooker final but have woken up to the news that my favourite Mark Williams is in front and playing well. I shall be watching the final this afternoon!

The snooker was superb, Mark Williams won by a whisker, both players deserved the title. One of the best finals I have ever seen. And they finished in time for me to be in bed at ten!

I have heard so much about the Danish series 'The Bridge' that I decided to watch the second series.... Over the last two days I have got to episode 7 and am enjoying it. I didn't watch the new one last night, I'll finish the second series first. Very complicated plot but I can see why it has such a following.

I think the one on BBC2 last night is the original one that was shown on BBC4. Nolic

I've still to watch The Woman in White...

Classic F1 racing on today, 30+ year old cars in the Monaco Historique on Quest (Freesat 167) this afternoon. F1 racing how it should be, 3 pedals on the floor and a gearstick :good:

Makings of a good one.

It was the question posed by the opening episode and scene setting. I don't want to know as such as we are time shifting the last two episodes. A lot of red herrings in the plot so far and I have a couple of theories milling around. I'll wait for the reveal whenever we get to it. :extrawink:

I can’t comment on British TV but here in Melbourne, Australia, when I arrived in November 1965 there was four channels, ABV2, HSV7, GTV9, and ATV0. In January 1980, ATV0 became ATV10.

In October 1980, a new channel SBS0/28 began broadcasting. By January 1986, SBS0/28 became SBS28.

By January 2005, the channels had all changed names becoming ABC, SEVEN, NINE, TEN and SBS and another channel C31 had begun broadcasting.

By November 2010, Digital TV had begun and many new channels had begun broadcasting. Today we have five under the ABC banner, six under the SEVEN banner, six under the NINE banner, four under the TEN banner and five under the SBS banner. That’s twenty six in total.

GOOD TV? Hardly. We got far better programmes when there was just the four channels. Today’s TV is, in most cases, a load of rubbish with far too many repeats.

Many years ago when TV in LA was digitised and more channels came on stream a friend of mine in the business told me that the big problem was going to be getting new content to fill the channels, the only solution would be repeats. He was right!
Last episode of Innocent last night. Sorry lads but as it happened I was lucky and got it right, it was the brother wot done it.....
By the way.... I am considering hibernating on Saturday......

I watched 'A Very British Scandal' last night, the story of the downfall of Jeremy Thorpe in the 1960s..... Very good production and Hugh Grant gets Thorpe just right. I remember it all so well....... Next episode on Tuesday..... I shall be there!

I resisted going on to iPlayer last night to watch the Thorpe film, evidently all the episodes are posted on there already..... I shall watch part two tonight.

I was wrong, it wasn't on last night. See THIS for some very encouraging critical comment. They evidently liked it as much as I did.

I caught up on the Bridge and Jeremy Thorpe last night. The BBC4programme on Newton was after my bedtime so I have saved it for tonight. Fascinating stuff and confirms all my unfounded prejudices from the time. Brilliant TV.

I'm watching Kate Adie on the Tiananmen Square massacre of June 4th 1989 .

Remarkable footage. I'd only seen the 'man in front of the tank' repeatedly before, and little of the details. She was remarkably brave - amongt many incidents, the person standing next to her was shot dead. She finished the night blood stained and climbing over the wall at the BBC hotel, copying the cassette tape which was smuggled out of the country. They made five copies, and told the couriers to get the first available plane to 'anywhere'. She repeatedly said 'they will deny it'. The one to Tokyo made it.

She is currently banned from entering China.

Who Do You Think You Are is back tonight at 9pm on BBC1.
I thought there was a thread about this somewhere but can't find it, so added it here.
