Been watching quite a bit on the new Smithsonian Channel (175 on Freesat). Linked to the institute they show some excellent documentaries. At the moment I am revisiting my youth via their series on the Apollo Program. Lots of unseen before footage on the design of the moon lander and the space race. I watched it all live from Sputnik onwards but there is some fascinating footage more focused on the ground crews that made it all happen, good stuff.

The Ariel Britain programmes on Smithsonian are quite interesting too, there's a series of Ariel America as well.

I watched Andrew Camarata re-building a trailer for two hours..... (Youtube)

Silverstone and Lords took up my TV time! Both exciting events. (I saw T May was at Lords enjoying the cricket....)

Not so good TV. Tour de France highlights, Channel 24. This is probably the worst presentation of 'highlights' I've ever seen. OK we expect a fare share of adverts but these are being followed by resumé talks about historical cycling events, followed by interviews of past winners, followed by questions on who won what and where. The cycling 'highlights' have taken a back seat to 'presentations'. Then they rub it in by minimising the aerial shots showing the beautiful countryside and villages that the Tour is passing through. Very disappointing presentation.

PS, Colne cycling Grand Prix 7pm -9pm Tuesday 16 July. Tomorrow evening. Live in Colne but not on TV.

I agree P. For some reason, perhaps because Sky are no longer involved, the Tour seems to have taken a back seat. I have noticed that myself.

ITV 4 are showing the race live for most of each day plus catch up on demand and the highlights programme!

Apart from the ad breaks (someone has to pay for it) it's really good coverage.

I laid myself a small bet that cricket cup and netball would feature in the TV to continue to distract us from Brexit, I was right. Spent the evening on Youtube with my favourites. Considered running Sunday's Poldark but never bothered.

Really ? - I think that's perhaps a conspiracy theory too far.

We're between Prime Ministers; The EU is still choosing its next set of leaders, and it was the closest cricket result ever, as was the Wimbledon final.

Just happenstance I think.

We are doing Beecham House, an Indian extravaganza set during the early 19th century and Poldark at the moment, Warleggen gets more nasty by the minute. Gentleman Jack before that which is set for another series. We binged Killing Eve a few weeks ago as we couldn't wait.

David, the sport is very convenient for the politicians. It keeps us happy in the other room while they do their plotting.
A video of grass growing would have done for me last night. Concentrating on surviving the after effects of treatment. Full time job!

There has been some good on BBC world service podcasts, been revisting some audio on YT of Mark Steel lectures from about 10 years ago that I must have missed.

I watched the BBC programme on Brexit and thought it was a very fair summary. It seems to me it was telling the truth, a rare commodity in anything connected with Brexit.

Not TV but R4. If you want 25 minutes sheer pleasure listen to Farming This Week, TX 06:30 t0 07:00 this morning. A day with a farm vet about to retire after 37 years with the same practice. Brilliant stuff, real life All Creatures Great and Small. I promise you will enjoy it.

The half hour film "The Last Clarion" is on the Together TV channel, (Freesat 164) tonight at 22.45.

Bit late for me Ian. I shall search on Youtube.....

We are watching Peaky Blinders, now on series 2 episode 5, it's a very addictive watch.

Watched episodes one and two of the HBO/Sky miniseries Chernobyl last night. It lives up to the reviews. Will watch the rest once this week's shift rotation finishes on Wednesday.

We've watched all 5 episodes now, scary stuff and an interesting insight into 'state secrecy'. Well worth a watch.
