I have just come back from visiting my Mum and Dad and Dan down at Ghyll.

Good news is that Wifred finally has his headstone. Was losing the light a little and had to take the photo on my phone so sorry if it's not the best.



Andy, your temporary cross to mark the plot has been left in position.

I'm a very happy Chappie!, it was about tens years ago when I first started looking for him and now he is "In from the Cold"

I'll pop down to see him tomorrow and take his temporary cross home.

My Thanks to all made this little act of Remembrance possible.

Oddly enough, I was thinking about that just before 6 this morning. And what a relief it is to see that they have put his full Christian name on there. A satisfactory end to a long and successful story.

I have sent a thank you message to CPGW for this, and will send one to the CWGC tomorrow. Just in is a Christmas mail from the Imperial War Museum thanking us for our input in respect of their work. I will add to this by saying thank you to all of you who have shown your interest and support here and elsewhere. Have a Happy Christmas and a trouble free New Year.

It is with great pleasure that I can announce that another Man from this Town, who's only known recognition is on our Town Memorial is now recognised by CWGC and will soon be added to the Tyne Cot Memorial, Stirling work by Mr. John Richardson of Threshfield and the website CPGW has led to this, and I believe that Private Ernest Jowett of the London Regiment, son of Squire Jowett of 14 South Avenue Barnoldswick who was killed on the 26th of October 1917 deserves this. It also brings the total of local Men on Tyne Cot to 26, the next highest being 23 at Thiepval.
