Earby in the First World War - Book Launch

Post by Wendyf »

Stephanie Carter's latest book, "Earby in the First World War" is being launched by the Earby and District Local History Society on Saturday 31st May at 11.00am in the New Road Community Centre, Earby.
Our speaker at the book launch will be Peter Thompson (Thomo) who has done so much to record Barlick's part in the war. Hope to see you all there!

The day went well!
The Mayor of Pendle, Smith Benson, who has a deep interest in WW1 opened proceedings, followed by Peter Thompson who gave us an extremely interesting talk (thanks again Thomo) and finally Stephanie introduced us to her wonderful new book.
We sold an amazing 40 books at the event. I have a signed copy for you Stanley, but it may be next week before I have time to get it to you.

I have a large collection of shirt buttons, how did you guess. Col wears shirts until they fall to pieces, and I always save the buttons before cutting the remains up for rags.
