Local Churches

Post by Pipeman »

Hi,
I am researching my family history(Edmondson) and have got back to 1778 when my 5x GG/dad got married to Rebecca Wilkingson at West Marton. On his marriage license he said he was 24 years old which would give him a DoB about 1742.
I have looked at the local Church Record for Marton and Broughton but can't find his birth. I have found one about the right date at B/wich Parish Church but to make sure I have the right one I am wondering if their might be another church that I should look at. The one I have seen is Richard born to Joseph Edmondson. So I am open to suggestions as to where else to look to be more certain.

Hi Pipeman and welcome to the site, we have quite a few genealogists on here who may well be able to give you some help. One other local church that comes to mind that you have not mentioned would be St. Mary's at Thornton in Craven.
