To welcome us in to the lounge this morning. Four heads in bloom on our Amaryllis, this is the first of two bulbs we planted, looks lovely in the morning sunshine.

Love the cats ( though...yes...I would feel slightly uneasy to look back and see them following me).
Love the Amarylis...simply stunning. That must lift the spirits.

Wouldn't scare me, they are beautiful. Be like having miniature black panthers in your garden. Love it!
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here. :)

Sometimes, even more of them follow us when we leave the house...

On an evening, it becomes unnerving when all seven of them sit in the front room and stare at me until I feed them their supper. Although they ignore other people moving about, as soon as I stir, they're at the door like a shot.

This dandelion, flowering on Skipton Road, attracted my attention today.

If I forgot to make sure our cat was locked in the house, it would follow me all the way to the school when I walked down to collect my son. Many times I looked back to find Basil just a few steps behind. The children used to get so excited to see him. He was a beautiful creature...long haired and the colour of Orange Marmalade...and quite a cuddly fellow.

See this LINK for the Californian couple who found $20million in gold coin hidden on their property. Buried by a miner after he converted his gold dust to $20 gold pieces (about an Ounce of gold) at the San Francisco mint.

Yes, though almost all of them have a small white patch under their chin or on their tummy. One has a single white whisker.

At midnight last night, my attention was firmly attracted by a caterwauling coming from downstairs. Venturing forth, I found several of ours with big fluffy tails and our visiting cat sat peacefully on top of the tumble drier. Suspect our fluffy feral visitor had ruffled a few feathers.

A man receives a four year sentence for killing a man with a punch. Twenty years ago a friends son received 15 years for a similar crime and did the time, this guy will be out in two years. What will the future bring a thousand lines for murder?

Gosh that California couple were lucky, just have to hope they can sell some of the coins.

There will be little problem selling gold coins, I hope they enjoy their good fortune. A lucky find of a half sovereign whilst digging for lug worms at Morecambe started a profitable hobby for me.

It's surprising how many people who buy gold sovereigns think they are made of pure gold. The truth is that they are an alloy, 22-carat and therefore you get 22 parts gold and 2 parts copper, which is why `gold' sovereigns are slightly more red in colour than gold itself. An 1887 London minted sovereign is a bit different - you get the 22 parts of gold but some of the copper in the other 2 parts is replaced with silver. This was deliberately done to help with a change of blanks when a new design was used. From a scientist's point of view, the gold content of gold sovereigns is not constant, especially in the 19th century sovereigns. The gold used always contains impurities (mostly silver), the amount of which depends on the effectiveness of the refining process and this has improved over the years.

Heard the same on the news about 3 hours after Stanley - I'd already taken pictures of the sunrise by then. Wish I had an aurora alert in the bedroom.

What attracted my attention yesterday was the leader of the Tory group on the county council turning round and telling one of my colleagues (Bill Winlow) to F*** Off.

At least, on this occasion, the chairman forced him to apologise. (Despite an instruction from the county's standards committee, Cllr Driver refuses to apologise for his physical attack on Bill last May.)

Good write up by Tizer on Gold sovereigns here is a picture of a few, when the case is full about £2000.00, when I fill a case it has to go in the bank it is not possible to insure them in the home. Each one has a face value of £1.00 nominally.
