Red letter day yesterday.... I broke a tap in the hole! Long time since I did that and it will be a long time before I do it again. I didn't attempt to get it out, just scrapped the work and made a new one....

How's the housing market down there Tiz?

Looking after the grandchildren for a couple of days as both parents are working away. Going to Warwick castle with them.
Then it will be ferry time on Sunday. Second trip of the year.

We have had all three of our grandchildren staying for the last week. Silsden pair were collected yesterday and Sally is taking Ruby back to Stratford today, just about to set off for the station.

Friday is always a busy day. Apart from getting my shopping act together I shall be doing some very deep thinking in the shed! The Design Committee have come up with radical solutions.....

I had a good session in the shed yesterday. I cured all of my problems and got to the stage where I am on the last lap, installing the valve gear. The winch is connected to the engine now and turns over nicely with no tight spots even though all the bearings are tight. Quietly away.....

Going for the high speed train to Nanning. Then meeting friends for dinner together. Later we're meeting my brother and sister-in-law at the airport shortly after midnight when they arrive from London via Guangzhou. We're staying the night in a hotel in Nanning and then we're having a few days away before arriving back home next Thursday night. Not seen him for 3 years and it is Janet's first trip to visit us. He's bringing me some fresh Saccharin tablets but no, I still won't throw away my remaining ones that expired in September 2011. :laugh5:

I was signed out again when I came online today. Not a problem just a pain.

Well the last couple of days have taken me back 35 years. Swimming lesson and training with City of Coventry for Eve on Friday, ballet this morning with Briony followed by her swimming lesson whilst Julia tries to catch up on some essential food shopping.

Had a great day at Warwick Castle yesterday. Expensive but so worth the money. We booked on line and got a big discount. We hardly touched all the activities in 5 hours. We took a picnic which we ate whilst we watched the birds of prey demonstration. The girls checked we had put healthy food in the picnic and went and added oranges to be sure! The bowman demonstration was brilliant, good fun and very informative.

It's catching Sue, I had to log in yesterday. It would be a nice sunny day for you at the castle....
I fought the good fight with my valve motion yesterday and am making progress but I still haven't had the blinding flash of inspiration about the design. No worries, it will come if I keep plugging away at it!
Free leccy day today...... I shall be doing my best to take advantage!

The rear camera is now in. A bit of fiddling about with the cable pulling rods and I got it through the headlining OK.

I shall be actually making chips in the shed, I have my design for the valve motion worked out and think I have the dimensions right......

Time for the last coat of varnish on the plinth Kev! I am into the final stages of building the winder. If anything I am being more careful and moving more slowly. I don't want any cock-ups at this stage and when I finally turn the steam on (Compressed air actually) I want it to start first time just like all my others have. So I shall be in the shed, moving slowly and with purpose!

Meeting up with a second cousin (I'm not sure of the correct term, Julie is my mother's cousin's daughter) in Keighley and visiting Cliffe Castle Museum. Her metal detectorist husband found rings locally which were declared to be treasure trove, and they have recently gone on display there.

No sweat over the plinth Kev.....Don't let me bug you.
Wendy, I thought Cliffe Castle had closed. I think that what gave me that idea was that a lot of their industrial artefacts were moved to Moorside at Bradford many years ago. They included Johnny's mill engine.

Here it is in his shed at Federation Street.

I shall be engine building as usual.....

Waiting for the farrier to come at midday then I'm off to Scotland for a long weekend leaving Col in charge. The SWRI (Scottish version of the WI) in the village where I used to live is celebrating its 90th birthday with an exhibition of crafts from over the years and I've been invited with some of the knitted items I made for competitions many years ago!

Rode past your farm on the road from Skipton to Colne but could not decide which was yours Wendy and did not know the name. Fantastic view from up there. Been to Keelham Farm shop at Skipton to refill the freezer.

We are on the right hand side half way up the hill from the Lothersdale turn off Moh. Our place is tucked underneath the big farm nearly at the top of the hill. Incredible views on a good day.
I had a good trip up to Scotland and enjoyed the drive, despite missing my exit from the M74...it just looked different and I was expecting signs to Abington & Biggar but it just said Lanark. Hey Hoh, after a moments panic i went on to the next exit and came straight here on the A70.
Have met up with my closest friends and dined well...more reunions tomorrow!
