There were a couple of interesting people commenting, a few saying they had refused medication and went LCHF instead. I will have to listen to it again myself as I kept getting interrupted by work.

Amazing really. Am I being a bit too simplistic?

If you have a peanut allergy .... Don'y eat them.
If red wine gives you a headache..... Don't drink it.
If carbohydrates overload your system... Don't eat them.

QED.

Perfect sense to anyone who is aware that diabetes is carbohydrate intolerance P, but when the medical profession still advises diabetics to base every meal on starchy carbohydrates it's difficult getting the message across.

Wendy is right P. I cringe at the quality of the nutritional advice we still get from NICE. I'll go with the Wendy diet any time.....

My system has settled down nicely after my glitch on the canal trip. I shall be seeing the diabetes nurse today and once more will bang on at her about the Wendy diet!

At last, the Royal Society for Public Health has said what most of us already know...
`Public 'tricked' into buying unhealthy food' LINK
"The UK's obesity crisis is being fuelled by businesses pushing unhealthy food and larger portions on shoppers, according to health experts. The Royal Society for Public Health warned consumers were being tricked by a marketing ploy known as upselling. The tactic involves shops, cafes and restaurants encouraging customers to upgrade to larger meals and drinks or adding high-calorie toppings and sides. A poll suggested eight in 10 people experienced it every week."

There's an important sentence near the end of the article: "The practice occurs at the point-of-sale and is not at the customer's request."

Diabetes checks part one today, a couple of bottles of the red stuff, bp and weight all good.

Considering I've just spent two weeks on a cruise, to find I'm only 2lbs heavier than I was in January was nice. LCHF, loving it :laugh5:

Big Kev and Stanley, Colin is looking for LCHF success stories to put on his website, if either of you could write a few words about your low carb experience for him to add he would be grateful.

I'll put this here - assuming 'eat' includes 'drink'. Tea brewing has been mentioned elsewhere.

I've done some 'serious' research into tea over the last few years - and drunk more than my share. I've reached some conclusions. I've finally decided that most of the usual rules are myths. The water does not have to be at 100C, the pot or mug if you prefer, need not be warmed, one scoop per person and one for the pot is too much, it doesn't need to be left to brew -it tastes just as good after just a few seconds, and a good stir.

I like Ceylon tea bags best for everyday, and Chinese Yunnan black tea for 'best'.

Leaf tea is undoubtedly better than tea bags. I use one of these Tea Infuserand usually make it in a mug.

It's quite shocking to read these stories. It's so obvious that a simple change of diet can make a huge difference and yet most doctors still issue the same old advice, eat loads of starchy carbs and keep taking the pills....

Go for it Kev!! Is your doctor supportive? Col advises keeping your Gliclazide prescription going otherwise you could be classed as not diabetic and your prescription for test strips taken away.

I'm still on the programme as pre-diabetic on 3 Metformin a day but col is perhaps right, I sounded them out about free test strips and she sai9d they only gave them in worse cases and I didn't qualify.
David, can't agree with you about brewing times but we all have our own ways....
