Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
That looks like a vehicle cigarette lighter plug, I reckon it a vehicle powered tyre pump.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
12 volt kettle?
Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
I would have followed PanBiker's lead and said its a 12v DC to a 19V DC converter to be used with laptop computer. But your 'domestic' has thrown me.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
If its domestic I cant see why it should have a vehicle lighter plug on. It looks like a pipe rather than a cable on the output so I'll stick with a pump but this time for air beds or similar stuff like mattresses, connector looks more akin to that kind of use.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
I may have misled you a tad. Include cars and caravans in 'domestic'.....

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
I sense that you have lost interest. I don't blame you, it's boring! It's the car charger plug for my new cordless hand-held Dyson cleaner. If anyone needs one, give me a shout, I shall never use this and it's up for grabs!

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Check the voltage outlet rating. As I have said it looks exactly like a laptop converter. 19v dc. 4 amp, Doubles the free give away price,

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Here's what it says on it. In 11-16V - 1.5amp. Out 26.1V - 500ma. If it's any good to anyone they are welcome to it.

Try this one.....
I shan't let this hang on, you either know it or you don't. These sheep used to be part of the window display of a shop in Barlick. Does anyone remember which one?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
It's yours Kev.... usual terms and conditions.
Sorry about the last MO, I was desperate. They used to be in the window of Wendy's knitting wool shop on Frank Street. I don't know if they had a previous outing in another shop. When she closed the business I bought them off her.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Replies being a bit thin on the ground here's a clue. The thingy was seen in the basement rooms of the Colne town hall.

Bill. Very close. It will accept parchment size papers. Think Henry V111 type of thing.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Since Saturday is my early going out day I'll close it down and say it was an embossing press. Lovely bit of kit. The press wasn't really on display but being a nosey bugger I spotted it at the back of the room. They didn't have any examples so I'll let Stanley put these up. Next please.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
In that case I was wrong! I identified it as a 'letter press'. In the days before copying and even carbon papers, copies of outgoing letters were made by writing the original using 'copying ink' or a copying ink pencil. Both were made of a compound that was soluble in water. The stationery used was interleaved with a thin tissue paper and if you placed a piece of damp paper over the tissue with the letter underneath and subjected it to pressure overnight, by morning you had a legible copy of the letter. I have letter books from 1905 that were made like this....
